Ok so guys know about this house party im djing at this weekend... cops are goving is troible because my mate is sellibg tickets, he has had 500 people want to come, so i wanna know

How many people can someone gave at a party before it is classified as an event??? and what licences what you need if any???

legally you can't sell tickets for a private event such as this. if you do, then you basically need to have a liquor license, you will need to pay royalties to APRA, security, OH&S etc etc.

But its a house warming party lol... I dunno what he's gonna do hey hebsold 500 tickets at $50 each... looks like he has to give people the money back... poor khunt

law sounds pretty similar to in the uk.

You cant sell tickets for private.

if its not private (i.e. it's making money) it needs license and you must pay tax on the income etc.

You can ask for people to give "gifts" at any party. but if he's been selling tickets already and distributing advertising then he's fucked it.

Next time do it on the D.L. and just ask everyone to donate a "gift" of $50.

This time you better hope the filth have a busy night coz if there's nothing better to do they'll be on you searching for contraband etc.

^lol, i wasnt going to say anything but this is the guy with the aircraft hangar isnt it?

you know what they say about the rich: they didnt get that way by being nice to people.

then again, it does depend what you get for your money, the gent could be the nicest man on the planet, i would expect an interesting bag of goodies and free grog at least :)

if the cops do come just say it was gifts from everyone, or say everyone chipped in for the djs and lighting and alcohol and no tickets were actually bought

Holy fucking shit $50 a ticket and 500 sold, thats $25,000.

You better be making a few k outta that, this is bigger than a local event!

Why doesn't he get the proper licensing if it's the dude with the aircraft hanger.

So long as it's not-for-profit i'm pretty sure you can charge people, but you will need at the very least public liability insurance, no doubt someones gonna get hurt and wanna sue.

I DJ'ed an openhouse party 30k outta town once, 300 people was the max if you register the party with them, everyone needed wristbands.

Hit max people by 7:30pm. Was crazy.

Yeah beat he's paying me.well, it was going to be $50 entry with free drinks till 11pm starting at 8pm this guy has it all set up, 3 bars, the hanger was the dancefloor, and 4 other dancefloors with stereo's cranking digital radio stations of hip hop, trance, dubstep and top 40 for the ladies lol

He is tying to secure a licence and yeah he heard about the 300 Max so I think he will refund 200 tix

Jeez...even with 300 people you still have a major event on you plate; Hes going to have to think about:

Extra toilets

Parking

Security (200 potential gate crashers who may be a bit miffed they missed out)

Folks trying to drink their $50 enrtry fee and more. Better have lots of bar staff.

Food to stop everyone getting too drunk and rioting over the lack of loo paper

First aid for the drunken idiot who falls over on the dance floor.

Extra rubbish bins

A cloak room of sime kind if its cold cause the chicks wont want to throw their coats on the ground

Power for all the extra lighting, sound, refrigeration etc

I hope your friend realises he probably wont be having a fun night.

Sounds like Not-For-Profit to me :P

Get him to start a small NFP company and just have the money syphoned back through purchase of equipment. If he likes the event he may want to have more :P
