CBG
yeah, wanna make sure I can use the dials for changing parameters on devices like phaser, reverb, flanger etc/
NTO
It's great for Reason, same deal with most DAWS. You simply right click the control in the software that you want to control with the keyboard, go to assign control or something similar depending on the DAW, then it's usually just a case of moving the dial/slider on the keyboard that you want to control the software control with. From there it's automatically assigned, ready to go.
CBG
Is it worth getting the 61 key? Or should I just get the 49?
ChevChelios
Depends how competent you are at playing, if your gonna spend more time recording live from the keyboard then go for a bigger one, but if your only gonna be using it for basic ideas and then drawing it all in then I see it as a waste of money. CBG
yeah, sorta what I thought. I cant play keyboard anyway. So I'd only be playing a few notes at a time. If I ever get good at it, which I prbly will cus im fairly musical, I'll buy a bigger and better one.
ChevChelios
Yeah thats what I did but now Im just stuck with a 25 key which is very limiting . If you think your gonna need it in the future then I reckon go the bigger one, just make sure you stick at it or otll be a waste.
CBG
yeah nah, the 49 should be enough. I dont think Im gunna be pumping out any tunes that use the whole scale in one song. Im only missing 12 keys. I'll see how much $ i get a hold of
NTO
I've been playing for a few years now, and it's only been recently that 49 keys has become limiting. I do most of my leads and keys live now though, and it's always quite involved jazz style improvisation so it stands to reason that I run out of room. CBG
but for someone who doesn't plan to play live, nor have any skill on a keyboard... the 49 is perfect?
NTO
From my experience 49 is plenty for what it sounds like you're after. That said, if the price difference is only small, grab the 61 key. If it's too much then you mightaswell grab the 49 in my opinion.
Tomy
yeah 49 is a good choice.
