I say go for it. Its free after all.

(edit)

I had ubuntu on a work laptop a couple of years back. Was a bitch to get the Bigpond 3G USB dongle working but everything else worked like a charm.

ive used a range of different linux distributions. I'd definately recommend ubunutu over windows for one of those mini laptops.

A netbook isn't going to be doing anything too intense anyway, and ubuntu has all the software you'd be familiar with, e.g.:

-openoffice

-firefox

etc.

Some of you guys are silly, Linux is great. I've used Linux all my life (Dad is a huge Linux nerd) and I've always found it better than Windows. I'm currently running Linux Mint on my Main PC, it's my personal favourite when it ces to the different distros. :D
