SolDios Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Basically my plan is to have everything going though the audio 4, that way If I decide to plug it into my laptop and insert scratch cd's. It becomes a timecode setup, But 1 more question...Just want to make sure, will an audio 4 not connected to a laptop just act as a double female adapter?p.s. the ipod is plugged into the mic slot for requests.Uploaded with ImageShack.us Quote
Hobberz Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 So what you are asking is if you do not wish to use timecode, can you leave everything plugged into the audio4 and use normal cd's, right? Quote
Lurk6r Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 In tsp you can select weather you want time code control or through mode, which just plays the audio from that cdj, you can also use the effects on it Quote
SolDios Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 ^ what if its not conected to a laptop though, thats my aimaudio4 will be in the back of the road case, all Il have to do to make it time code is insert time code cd's and thread the usb cable out and into my laptop. Quote
imadje Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Proper traktor cables have two pairs of rca plugs for each deck, one pair goes into a line in on the mixer and supplies music from laptop, the other pair goes into a dif line in on mixer (but same channel) and supplies direct music from cd player. they are built this way so you can play from a normal cd while swapping laptops etc. Quote
Lurk6r Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 If you want it to also work independently from your laptop i would do the following.Get a rca splitter, like so http://search.dicksmith.com.au/electron ... 0Y%20CableYou'll need 4 of them, 2 for each cdj (1 for each channel L & R).For the sake this example we'll just work with CDJ 1 R Chanel.1. Plug the single side into the cdj.2. On the double side plug one into the audio4.2b. plug the audio 4 (using ur current cable) into one of the channel 1 inputs of the mixer.3. plug the OTHER double side straight into the OTHER channel 1 input on the mixer.4. Use your input selector switch on the mixer to select what you want.so the way this would work is.For time code, the cdj signal is sent to the audio4 -> latop -> back to audio4 -> mixer (as music). For direct cdj playback, flip the input switch so it goes. cdj -> mixer. This way you can even have one cdj as timecode while using the other one for cd's.I hope this helps. ill_spector Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 get a numark m4 mixer.cheaper, and its 3 channels so just run your ipod into the 3rd channel. Quote
imadje Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 just noticed sol: the xone 22 has only 2 line inputs so no you will not be able to have timecode or cds. the other two inputs are phono only.^Ill has good choice. plenty of line ins and an option for your ipod. Quote
BeatLeSS Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Xone 22 would be fine for timecode. Correct me if i'm wrong but Timecode works like this;CDJ -> Soundcard.Soundcard -> Mixer. So in essence you need two channels on the Soundcard to have one CDJ do TimeCode. CDJ goes to soundcard, which transmits the TimeCode signal to the laptop. Then the Laptop bounces the music from the soundcard to the mixer. That does mean however the soundcard you choose will need two inputs and two outputs.Sol: To answer your question i wouldn't imagine the soundcard would passthrough any signal without any power to it, though i could be wrong. Quote
Mitch Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 ^What beatless said, i'm fairly sure a soundcard won't work without power to it.So to switch from a timecode setup to a standard non-laptop setup you'll need to unplug the audio 4 and then plug your CDJs straight into the mixer. However you can play normal CDs on the CDJs within a timecode setup i believe. But you need the laptop plugged into the soundcard, then just set it to through mode or something along those lines.Or if you don't want to unplug cables to switch between setups, Lurk6r's solution will probably work, but haven't seen anything like that myself Quote
eggssell Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Not sure of audio 4 but with audio 8 you dont need it powered, it becomes basically a pass thru connector. I play my vinyls all the time without having to unplug anything. And its a 2 channel mixer (iq2). I just have to switch from line to phone, ground it and voila all working. But yeah not sure if audio 4 has restrictions as to the ins and outs Quote
ill_spector Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 numark m4, is very sold, and decent never had a problem with mine when i had it, (got it 2nd hand for $50 aswell so cant complain) and they're only about $200 new? and if you're going to run traktor, you probs dont even needa wory about onboard effects filters on your mixer, as traktor has them all anyway?https://www.storedj.com.au/products/NUM-M4 Quote
imadje Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Xone 22 would be fine for timecode.-is true, but not for switching between timecode and real cds as sol asked as it has only one pair of line in inputs. Quote
SolDios Posted July 24, 2011 Author Posted July 24, 2011 Just wondering, would a serato box (e.g. sl2) do what I want it to do (thru mode automaticly if I don't have it with power, but not hooked up to a computer) Quote
