MisterMeaner Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Hey everyone i want some advice!. So i have just sold TSP and still am running 2 cdjs. Now i dont know what to do next?. I was thinking of purchasing Serato? Or i wanted to look at getting a midi controller ? what does everyone think ? Though i love cdjs because i love to scratch on them and flip tracks in ? does anyone do this with midi controllers? the disk is far to small so i wouldnt think anyone would bother, i may be wrong though Quote
Gandy Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 if your decks are pioneers, look into rekordbox, its amazing ive jsut recently converted to it. Quote
chrismak Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Why would you sell TSP and buy serato? If you like your cdj's then just stick with them. Midi controllers are good if you are a mobile DJ and want to keep your equipment light & compact. What exactly do you want to achieve? Quote
MisterMeaner Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 well i got a regular thursday night gig and i hate lugging all my gig around such s hassel!!!!! but i also want to start mixn vnyl. Quote
MisterMeaner Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Gandy tell me more about this rekordbox ? Quote
MisterMeaner Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 i dont have 900s or 1000s 2000s:( Quote
Mitch Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 pretty sure if you have 850's or 350's as well you can use recordbox to prepare USB sticks for sets as well. What CDJ's do you have ? Quote

I thought only the 900's and 2000's had LAN connections for use with recordbox? And the other models you had to just use USB sticks or timecode discs with serato/traktor Quote
Jaz Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 To my knowledge cdj850's and 350's can be used with record box via USB leadthe LAN connection your thinking of with the 900's and 2000's means you can LAN connect 2 players together so that you only need 1 Usb stick...eg, the leftdeck has the USB stick inserted, both the left and right deck take there music from that 1 Usb Quote
Mitch Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I was under the impression that the LAN cables went from the CDJs to a hub, then hook the computer into that hub?I didn't know you could hook them together directly.By the looks of the diagram in this page here, you can use one USB device in a CDJ and use lan to connect everything up to the DJM 2000, and they can all access that USB.http://instructions.prodjnet.com/im/rek ... _4_en.htmlBut I don't own one myself, just been looking on the net. I will look into it Quote
Mitch Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 well in that case you could:-buy serato and have a timecode setup similar to what you had.-sell your CDJs, and get something such as the 900's and use them with recordbox.-burn all your music to CDs Quote
OxyKon Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 The 900's and 2000's are an awesome setup to have, the 900's are cheaper with a few less functions but practically do the same thing, I've got the 2000's but haven't used the recordbox, I've heard great things about it, if ur wanting to start playin vinyl u have to deside if u get serato or deside to start forkin out the money on 12", serato would e the cheaper option their, specially if u don't like lugging gear around Quote
tommykesh Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Serato pretty good alot of scratch dj's breaking into digital rave about it. But I have had a few glitches when using it on cdjs, nothing that re inserting the cd dident fix. Quote

imadje Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 ez mate, I know this thread has followed the path of cdjs but if you are still considering a controller chk this:have you seen this thread about the NUMARK NS6 controller?http://www.ausdjforums.com/modules.php? ... pic&t=6280I have one of these and am well happy with it. MY history so you know I'm no child: Started in vinyl 1989, moved to cdjs 1997, added traktor to CDJs 2004. Gigged clubs, bars, functions and on tour with live bands... beatmatching and always done cuts as well as basic transforms/juggles but am not turntablist. Was waiting for a lightweight controller to be invented for years so I could reduce weight of kit but not alter style of djing.watch the vid by cerla:So Cerlas vid is great but just so you know you dont have to be superhuman to work a NS6 here's the draft so far for my entry in capfives comp. There's some scruffy mixes and some real dodgy bits (especially the intro, it's only a draft) but hopefully you'll get the idea of how the NS6 works on four decks and how it sounds. Jim adjf comp 3 by more foolishand here's a short vid I did when I first got it. again it's scruffy but you can see exactly what's going on.it's a srs option mate. Quote
