Mitch Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Can't say I've officially started as don't have real equipment yet, but been learning on a mixtrack pro for just over 2Months now. Self taught at home on forums, YouTube etc. But trying to find some DJs in my area to try learn something off them as well. But not many people DJ up my way unfortunately, so just winging it ATM. CapFive Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 mate as long as you can play a song, and play another song and mix the two together, you are DJing, the gear you use is a small detail to that, also i would see not many DJ's up there a Gold mine just waiting for you be the resident mobile Party DJ get your name out there and start doing what you love and get paid for it! Mitch Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 yer i live on the border of vic/nsw in an area full of smaller towns, so not alot going on, but trying to get name out there a bit. I could get parties to DJ at but all the kids are too tightarse to pay anything for a DJ. Already been screwed over by a so called 'friend' doing a gig lol. Quote
awesome88 Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 hmmmm a year? a year and a half? about that Quote

eggssell Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 not icluding the rentals from the old house party days, i got my own decks just over a year and a half. but i go thru periods of absolutely no use (prob 4 months was biggest gap).and wasted several months trying to mix hip hop. i will conquer you one day dammit!!still kinda suck. held down a few impromptu dance parties in my apartment. people dancing and or falling over and or both, so been good. Addi Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Bought my gear about a year ago. Was always interested, had bucket loads of songs which I wanted to do something with haha. Used to muck around on Virtual DJ which taught me a lot about phrasing. So when I got around to getting my gear, learning to mix was heaps easieryer i live on the border of vic/nsw in an area full of smaller towns, so not alot going onWhere abouts man? I'm at Wagga. Pretty close to the border! Quote
