yizzle
I have noticed massive surges in CPU on Traktor 2. I know the thread was about a mac, i have a pc but it sometimes just peaks. Cant explain it. annoying though.. can make some lovely glitch sounds though
Mitch
i have a 2007 macbook pro core 2 duo with 3gb ram + snow leopard. No issues here. Possibly try uninstalling (making sure you remove all the application data, preferences etc.) then reinstalling, and running a cleanup program such as onyx - http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11582/onyxtry that and see how you go.Sources: I fix computers for a job
tommykesh
The best way to get your mac running smoothly I did this a few years ago on my old pro and it worked a charm. Try the following..Change the latency on traktor.Clear tool bar (except for finder and traktor).Clear your Desktop to.Delete all un nes apps.Keep power suply plugged inIf your using a usb hub get a powered one.Theres a hole bunch of other shit you can get rid of like different language translator, smart playlist to name a few. But check it out online 1st I don't want you to have to re install os from trashing the wrong thing They don't sound like much but it works
LabRat
I'd also Max out the ram. That extra gig or 2 always helps
lloydc
i realised the HDD is pretty damn full... will be emptying and seeing what happens
fackedd
yeah a full HD on a laptop usually slows it down a fair bit.
lloydc
ok, I updated traktor to the latest version and it's pretty much fucked everything.CPU usage is through the roof, and all i get is staticy garbage as soon as i have two tracks playing at once.I've droped the latency down to between 15 and 20, put it into economy mode and removed decks 3 & 4.... and it still distorts with all that staticy garbage.Time for a new lappy I think? SolDios
it seems like its a software error rather than a hardware error.my macbook had no problem with traktor.prehaps re-instal your os?
eggssell
ok, I updated traktor to the latest versionthis is your problem!im surprised though. about 2 years ago when i first bought tsp, every upgrade started messing with macs, and reading the forums it actually pretty much looked like macs were an afterthought.then for the last 2 updates (that i know of but havent checked for about 6 months), the tables turned and it seemed like NI had become maccentric.anyways, have you checked NI forum? people may have already gone thru and advised whether it is software; or hardware driver. and people will suggest whether roll back is needed.but i said it to foolish, dont do auto-updates with NI. they are notorious!!!! and when i was tracking it, they were on a cycle of one good update; one bad update. in fact you regularly read of people who would skip 3 to 4 updates.EDIT: i havent been on that forum for ages. may have a squizz at lunch and will let you know if i see anything. lloydc
I have missed numerous updates, and thought it was about time to update. My laptop is pretty old... it's within the minimum spec range. core duo with 2gb ram.hmmm
eggssell
shouldnt matter. my laptop is over six years old. 2GB ram, and it runs tsp tops.
eggssell
hey lloyd, seems to be a few issues with 2.1.1. Are you on tsp 2 or tsp1?anyways looks like a lot of people are rolling back to 2.0.3here are two about CPU spikes, even one saying its mac specific because his mates asus works finehttp://www.native-instruments.com/forum ... p?t=149215http://www.native-instruments.com/forum ... p?t=149729and here is one saying there is a bug with tempo sync. im not sure what that means, as they saying beat sync works but not tempo sync, there is more than one sync?http://www.native-instruments.com/forum ... p?t=149353another thing that came to mind when reading the posts is remember to adjust your latency after each upgrade. as the latency setting is like finding a perfect partner, it depends on everything around and your current situation. and what is perfect for one is not necessarily perfect for someone else.im pretty sure after my last upgrade i had to tweak latency a bit to get rid of snap crackles. Mitch
im on 2.0.1, never had any issues whatsoever. 2007 MBP. But i was only using it with midi not timecode. But this version is stable for me
lloydc
midi seems ok, timecode is the issue
imadje
I'm not on 2.0 but just backtracking and checking the obvious:are all the tracks in your library analysed? Sometimes after an update traktor will want to reanalayse everything. If you have background analysis on during play it can seriously screw you up.I left mine to analyse overnight once (at band camp).
lloydc
ok, worked out how to use the old version.will be testing when I get the chance, but i figure it will be fine since there is a large difference in CPU usage when idle (between the old version and 2.11)
