Hobberz Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 From my other thread, I have my first comp this weekend.Spoke with the owner today. Im first up, feeling a tad bit nervous after my horrible mixing on the weekend. Hopefully I find my groove on the night and kill it.He also mentioned today he wants a lot of vocals in the songs, he wants remixes of Top 40 stuff but not over the top clubbing tracks if that makes sense??????? I should mention its more of a bar than a club.So essentially Im guessing I need to find some remixes that are very similar to original and also with and extended intro/outro to get them matched up.Most of my Top40 tracks don't have a lot of vocals, so I guess I need to get some new music. If anyone knows some bangers that will pump the crowd up than let me know, being first up means I get to play all the good songs. Cheers Quote
eggssell Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 what is the fascination with remixes? why not just the OG track?i mean sure even the edm releases come out with several mixes, but surely people dont want to hear remixed pop tracks all day? i remember catching some commercial radio back in the day when i lived with other people and they would put four/ four beats on already released songs. sounds shit most of the time imooh and in terms of OP dont know much about whats charting but i know of some commercial artists who have all dropped recently snoopbeastie boystraviskanyebig sean (full release should drop tomorrow)kid cudi (otay its been a year but the release still has fire)nicki minaj (not sure if she charting but seeing all the hate press and beefing stories, i assume she has hit tall poppy syndrome stage of her career)ofwgktaedit: oh yeah forgot lupe Quote
eggssell Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 ha ha ha i just realised that, all you need to do is look at who everyone on the internets are hating, and that gives you a list of what is famous.so i guess you can add deadmau5, guetta and pitbull to the list based on other threads. Quote
eggssell Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 hey crundster did you get on redmans last album? copped a bit of heat because of the amount of club tracks, but i thought it rocked. people forget redman is one of the masters of the crossover and has been down with the pop scene for many years.if you aint checked it, go do it.and to the side, i watched how high the other day, i remember liking it when i was younger so thought it may have aged. but nah its funny as fark! Quote
crundyy Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 nar bro, the only album ive really listend to is "what thee" pretty fresh, my mates got it on wax i really want a copy of it too!yo hobz! i was listenining through my itunes just then and if you could mix the song "my neck my back by khia" with "get it girl by ying yang twins" imo itd go off Quote
Jaz Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 check out laidback luke's remix's, they are all commercial songs with a club feel with heaps of lyrics stilllike dirty talk, heartbreaker, delerious, i got a feeling, you used to hold me, etc etcor is that still to electro? Quote
LabRat Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 David guetta basically. Any dance tune that's on the radio I'd play. I wouldn't worry too much about remixes unless it has a "bar" feel too it... If that makes sense Quote
CapFive Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Hobbs ill go through my list I actually look for specifically these remixs, ill pm you tomorrow bro Quote

Hobberz Posted June 28, 2011 Author Posted June 28, 2011 Cheers Cap, +rep to you good sir. I went through the aria charts last night and downloaded a fair bit from DJCity, found a guy on there that just extends the standard intro's but leaves the song original. Will have a look through your list, alot of them were familar so i may have some already. Is there an archive on the interwebs somewhere to find Top40 list from previous years? Wouldnt mind a few older bangers that people havent heard in a while. Quote
