johnyboy Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Got a problem with mine recently whenever i insert a disc it says DISK ERROR then i eject the disc and re enter it is usually fine but takes longer to read initially and sometimes the disc makes a rotating noise when inserted.I use tdk gold discs and until recently ive burn them using nero @ full writing speed only because i didnt know you could change the speed on nero..the players are 18 months old they havent been over used either ? Quote
Jaz Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 hmm sounds odd, the best thing to try would be to lower the burning speed, i burn mine on x4 which isnt fast but gives me piece of mind....because if its only just started doing it since you've up the burning speed to max that would be my 1st guess that thats your problem... Quote
johnyboy Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 its nothing to do with the burning speed as the problem has only just started happening even on older discs.. Quote
Jaz Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 hmm try giving it a bath....haha nah but in all seriousness it might be due for a service then man, could be the laser reader or something not reading the discs properly...is it just on the 1 deck not both? (im guessing you have a pair of the same decks?) Quote
Skank Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 my mate has a dns S5000 and the exzct same thing happens to him he recons its just the gear over time dies aparently its a common problen with dennon Quote
fackedd Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 fuck i swear pundaddy gives the best advice on this forum haha. But yeah like the others said sounds like you need a service, I dont want to sound like a pio fanboy..... But thats what happens when you try and buy dj gear on a budget. Quote
johnyboy Posted June 14, 2011 Author Posted June 14, 2011 I dint purchase these on a budget i prefered these to 800s anyway, and doesnt similar things happen to pioneer as well..thanks for the advice everyone anyway.gonna do some research Quote
wazza Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 sound like a drive-roller problem...not a hard fix Quote
wazza Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 a firmware update might be worth a try as well& this to Quote
johnyboy Posted June 14, 2011 Author Posted June 14, 2011 i was thinking it could be a drive roller problem ...cant be that hard to clean it..im running the 0099 firmware is this the latest version ?once the firmware has been installed does it ever need re installing ? i installed this over 6 months agoIve just used the decks and have had no problems at all every cd loaded ok but still had the occasional spinning noise thing going on. Quote
johnyboy Posted June 14, 2011 Author Posted June 14, 2011 just been looking at replacement lazers not cheap $180 ish each... Quote
johnyboy Posted June 14, 2011 Author Posted June 14, 2011 Im pretty clued up on electrics so was gonna look into what parts are replaced on a service and service them myself..........but will try the firmware first Quote
tubby Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 fuck i swear pundaddy gives the best advice on this forum haha. But yeah like the others said sounds like you need a service, I dont want to sound like a pio fanboy..... But thats what happens when you try and buy dj gear on a budget.the 3500's are hardly dj gear on a budget, they're a pretty solid player. one of my cdj800's had to go in twice for major repairs under warranty, eject mechanism fails then the whole main board had to be replaced. Electronics have a failure rate, shit happens to even then best product Quote
johnyboy Posted June 14, 2011 Author Posted June 14, 2011 Exactly tubby its not on a budget.... Quote
johnyboy Posted June 14, 2011 Author Posted June 14, 2011 when i was having problems with the disc error on screen the players had been on for a few hours i used them last night and were fine so its something to do with when they get hot.... Quote
Jaz Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 put a desk fan over your decks and see if that helps, if it stops then i guess heat it so blame...but you would think you would have noticed it in summer more then now if thats the case Quote
DJAdumbration Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 But yeah like the others said sounds like you need a service, I dont want to sound like a pio fanboy..... But thats what happens when you try and buy dj gear on a budget. So driving a WRX STi is driving on a budget cause it's cheaper than a BMW M3 Quote
johnyboy Posted June 15, 2011 Author Posted June 15, 2011 Ive done some research and its due to the denons not having a heatsink on the rear panel .they do get very hot quicklty and after 4 or so hours use the heat is affecting the reading of the discs... Quote
Jaz Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 thats weird as, like i said, put a desk fan facing the back of them and you should be set Quote
johnyboy Posted July 16, 2011 Author Posted July 16, 2011 Ive moved the decks and ive constructed a stand so that they stand up 5 or so inches from my desk and there is lots more air flowing under them and there has been no more issues with the earlier problem.....sorted Quote
Jaz Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 wow so it was definitely heat being the problem weird...go with it for now...then wait till summer n see how they go Quote
Gandy Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 good to hear you sorted it, sucks its an issue though Quote
