CapFive Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 so i was driving to work this morning, with my classics playlist on (classics being the old skool dance music i have collected over the years) and a set came on which made my hairs stand up... It was the set that made me want to be a DJ. I heard it for the first time when I was 10 years old the set was by DJ Alex K, i was in my brothers VN commodore and he was pumping the music as he drove me to school. my two favourite songs at the time where mashed together for 30 sec for the transition, put your hands up in the air was sampled over the top of that Schumacher formula 1 song, i had never heard anything like it and i got really curious on how he did it.my brother said well he has 2 cd players going at once and he presses play one and the right time to make the songs mix together... obviously he couldn't give me the detailed explanation because (a) he didnt know and ( i wouldn't understand even if he did know...But all i knew is after that i wanted to be able make someone have that same feeling i gotso it got me wondering, what was that one point where you decided you wanted to either DJ or Produce Quote
andyman Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 When I heard Girl Talk for the first time haha.Funnily enough, I don't play anything like him. Quote
Jaz Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 when i turned 18 and i watched the DJ more at the club then chilling with my mates Quote
CapFive Posted June 7, 2011 Author Posted June 7, 2011 that's not a bad thing, everyone has to have their own style it would suck if you played like him... there can only be one!!! Girl Talk by GirlTalk1 Quote
Cupe Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 DJ Rectangle scratching like an ill cuntI was born in producing though after hearing mad guys like dj krush, dj shadow and the ninja tune crew Quote
Gandy Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 always loved music, was a club fiend for 8 years straight (every thurs/fri/sat nite) and loved that fact that the dj could control my emotion and mood for the night. It didnt matter how shitty my week was, i could go to my club with my fav dj and forget about all the shitty things in life. Having that kind of power to influence people, the thrill of seeing ppl lose there shit when you drop some big bombs, is a natural high no drug can replicate. Also, i love handing out my monthly mixes, then people coming up and saying how much they loved my music, that feedback never gets old Quote
awesome88 Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 lol my story sucks... i didn't have an epiphany or anything. My mate started mucking around on his brother in laws decks... then when i saw them i took an interest and started mucking around on em.then my mate bought some decks, and i found out another of my mates dj'd..... second mate was upgrading his gear and sold me his old gear at a steal....and, as they say, the rest is history Quote
CapFive Posted June 8, 2011 Author Posted June 8, 2011 haha i wish i could sig that, but cupe wouldn't let me Quote
Lurk6r Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I mate got me a job djing, then I started liking it. Probably the reverse of how it should happen. Quote

LabRat Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Was about 12 when I got into electronic music. Paul oakenfold was the first inspiration to make dance music and the skitzmix compilations made me want to DJ Quote
Dominant Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I just love the music so much that I thought "hey instead of paying to go to the clubs to listen to the music maybe I could practice enough that I could get payed to go instead" plus I have so much fun practicing that I don't really care if I get good enough to every play in a club anyways. pundaddy Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 My neighbours been doing it for quite some time, and i've always had an interest in elextro music, so he showed me the ropes and i've continued on with it. Quote
