mattus123 Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 did a mates farewell party last nightgot there around 11, there was someone DJing before me, dance floor was pretty empty thoughi jumped on a bit after 11 within 20 mins dance floor was full and i was dropping heavy electro and mixing in a bit of commercial with it, everyone seemed to be loving it, had old school mates who didnt know i DJed come up to me and say i was doing an awesome job, so that was niceround 12:30 the old DJ kept buggin me saying he wanted to jump back on, or we would mix a track each or whatever... which i didnt really wanna do cause i was havin a sick time, and hte D Floor was nice and full. One of his mates ended up coming up to me and tried having a go at me cause his mate wasnt DJing, pretty much jsut ignored him cause he was a whaleended up cracking the shits at 1 and let the old DJ jump back on the decks (we were gonna head off soon anyway), after about 10 mins of the other DJ jumping back on the D Floor was empty... karmas a bitchall in all a good night, good way to send off my mate Quote

mattus123 Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 NEXT GIG LOG!!played my first club gig last night. rocked up after work at about 11:30, walked in the club, stoaked to see that atleast 20 mates had showed up for support which was awesome.the club was pretty quiet so my set got pushed back half an hour to wait until it filled up. started my set at 1230jumped in the DJ booth, saw that i was gonna be using CDJ800s (as Gremm1s had warned me) which kinda worried me a bit (im used to using the waveform on the 1000s). Jumped straight on a high and started dropping some dirty stuff right from the start.after about 4 transitions (hadnt dropped anything commercial yet) a guy came up to me and introduced himself.. turned out he was the owner of the club and Candys (i tihnk thats what he said.. couldnt really hear) and he was syaing he was loving the mix and that 'we will defiently have you back here soon'. So after that i was on such a high, everyone was loving what i was dropping and so was IApparently the backroom (where i was playing) was more packed than the main front room for some of my set aswell Had the resident Dj come up to the booth and said that i was killing it, aswell as a couple of the head promoters.Finished up at 1:30, had a little chat with the guy who got me the gig and he was saying he will try get me a set in the main room next time.So all in all, an awesome first experience. I think i left a good impression on the right people, so fingers crossed i get some call backs and i get some more consistent gigs Thanks for all the advice aswell lads, i did as u instructed; stuck to my track selection, knew the songs i was going to play, and it all went smoothly Quote
OxyKon Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 nice going bro, that 1st gig is always the hardest, good to see it went well, keep at it Quote
