eggssell Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 chevs right though. hip hop/ rnb good beat producers make mint. prob cuz there are so many shyte ones. plus a lot of em can just sample eight beats and loop, or make a very basic pattern on a drum pattern and rap over that. but then you get those that just take it to the next level and even better those that can bring the best out of the lyricist or vocalist. the beat maker in this instance makes a hella difference. so people pay them thousands or millions up front for some beats. legunner Posted June 4, 2011 Author Posted June 4, 2011 I think most producers in the EDM Scene are so rich and famous from the live show they do, so i think there are more "hybrid" producerXdjs now. Quote
eggssell Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 theres also more hybrid producer cum djs because the fest promoters get caught in the hype machine of new producers who gain their own following, and then book them for bigg fests despite never djing in their lives. then they just get up there and do the celebrity dj thing, play their own songs and a whole lot of popular songs chuck in some anthems, and no beat matching whatsoever. legunner Posted June 4, 2011 Author Posted June 4, 2011 yeh true true, alot ofo pepole have criticised guys liuke skrillex and deadmau5 for that, but hey if they put on a rocking show im down Quote
dim Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 I love gigs, especially mad house parties where you totally buzz of a small crowd, done it all my life.... but of course I'd love to sell out, get lucky and rule the world as a famous and rich producer able to DJ massive stadiums when I want....coz I'm old and need a pension plan. CapFive Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 plus you would make more money lolUnless you're Timberland or something you dont make shit. Theres way more money in DJing, thats why so many people do it. The odds are stacked against you if you want to make money producing.Producers 4 lyf3! he said famous.... a famous producer would make money still famous producers make next to no money, they get it all from getting toured because of the production.you get a track signed, you will make maybe 10c a sale, and half the whales are gonna download illegallywow that sucks hey, there go my dreams of wanting to be a producer Quote

dim Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 it's true. You have to be lady gaga or similar high profile sell out to really strike it rich in this game. But if you have the skill and work hard you can get lucky, eg:My cousin was in a band called "Pogue ma hone" for about 15 years slogging it round crappy bars and folk festivals for nearly no income. Then he wrote and played the piano intro for that song called "fairytale of new york." They changed the name of the band to "The Pogues" (coz pogue ma hone means kiss my arse in celtic). Coz it was a successful selling song and more important coz it was a successful christmas single, it has been included on every xmas compilation album ever since, and gets played on loads of telly/radio every year. He still gigs but basically hasnt really needed to work since that one song made it for him. Lives in hollywood now."i'll get lucky" doesnt really cut it with the bank manager as a business plan though does it? Quote
LabRat Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 the only thing you need to make it in this game is product.without it, you can just hunt for a label somewhere, get lucky, get it published and make a few bucks as a hobby Quote
