CapFive Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 hey guys, I am an amateur mixer and I specialise in pre mixed sets I don't mix live because I don't have the skill or the reaction for the CDJ's so I do my mixing in programs call me a fake or whatever but at least I am upfront about it. One thing I always get form people is they like my mixes, regardless of if they are made live or in a program, i only mix the music to listen to and for mates parties etclook out for my mixes on http://www.soundcloud.com i'll be uploading pretty much every 1 - 2 months Quote
yizzle Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Welcome DJ_Capsss.I dont think your a fake, if your enjoying what your doing and other people do to. Thats all that matters. No matter how its done.Good place to be this is Quote
eggssell Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 ? mate if all yer doing is remixing music then thats all good its where a lot of producers start.anyways welcome Quote
CapFive Posted May 28, 2011 Author Posted May 28, 2011 thanks guys, i get ridiculed alot from DJ's because they say im not live mixing lol, seems like a good place think ill enjoy it Quote
Hobberz Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Welcome It takes some real balls to come out and be upfront about that when a lot of people are so against it. Im sure one day down the track you will find some rhythm and feel comfortable on the CDJ's, we all have to start somewhere mate.Enjoy the site Quote
eggssell Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 oops i didnt actually realise you said you do premixed sets, i thought you meant you did bootleggers which is pretty much what most of the guys do here except a handful who do their own thang.anyways, your talking about making mixtapes for holmies right. so who cares do what you do.oh yeah, link yer sundcloud bud. Hobberz Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Its all about training your ears when learning to beat match. You wont pick it up straight away, it took me a few months. Its a good idea picking songs with really hard hitting beat like Satisfaction to help train your ear when your starting out. Practice Practice Practice Quote
legunner Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 mix songs like deadmau5 because nearly all of them have a long intro and outro with a solid kick to help you Quote
dim Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 ez.one of the reasons you may be finding it hard to mix live is that bcd 3000, it's one of the most unrepsonsive bits of dj gear available.have you ever tried cdjs? Quote
CapFive Posted May 29, 2011 Author Posted May 29, 2011 Yeah, but by the time I DO get the beat match down (20% hitrate) then the song is too far gone to mix it in, then I have lost where to mix in to, I dunno maybe I need to take the plunge and buy some so I am forced to learn Quote
dim Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 that's totally normal for a beginner mate.at least you have got the beatmatch down.just rewind the songs and practise mixing once they're matched.and keep practising.whether you buy some or not depends on your income. i would just take every opportunity to play until i was sure it was something i wanted to invest in. SourceRaver Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 You may not be beatmatching now but you can still learn and practice some important skills like music selection, mix placement, EQ, levels, phrasing (and the list goes on). When you do eventually learn to beatmix, all the planets will align and then you wont take shit from anybody. Girls will also want to do naughty things to you... Quote
