yizzle Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 ha, ok title said it all.Now im sorry if this is in the wrong thread, it probally should be in 'The Music' section but the problem is, i dont know what genre this fits under. Im new to this and just have no idea. And i want to know. Now this is Toecutter, he comes down to Tasmania a few times a year and we have a ball when he is down.Im sorry about the Aqua mix but he does not put much out. What does this fit under? What do you think?...im ready Quote
dim Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 this fits under "2 hippos fooking"it's a sub genre of "seriously overloaded beats"It sounds like it was recorded by someone holding a phone next to a speaker at a rave.Seriously tho: I could never play it out but I quite liked it.Is it an edited mash up or a live mini mix? Quote
yizzle Posted May 26, 2011 Author Posted May 26, 2011 well, he played it live last time i saw him. live mini mix?I know its kinda brutal, there is just a soft part of my soul that loves it. You cant play it out load. My girlfriend wont let me... ha.thanks though, i was thinking no one was going to say anything but "shit." Quote
CBG Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 ok um... its cool. But not musical in anyway, there's no set beat, like there is a beat, but the time signature makes absoloutely no sense. Quote

LabRat Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Haha this will shock a few people but I know exactly what this is! I use to play this stuff to a bunch of crazy Dutch people back in my hardstyle / gabba days lolThis is called Shranz (also known as Industrial Techno). Believe it or not, there are some pretty sick Shranz tracks out there Quote
krsjuan Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 pretty sure these type of tracks are sold with some type of substance to be consumed at time of listening Quote
fackedd Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 id probably enjoy listening to it if i was taking acid and some googs. Quote
dim Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 crazy Dutch peopleof course... it all makes sense now, there's a squat near us where all the anarchist/ new age traveller/ protest movement gang hang out and that's why I recognised this style too. It's ok for an after party after party if you know what I mean.Punk attitude, computer arrangement. Quote
eggssell Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 it was alright. got a bit boring in the middle then changed up a bit. Quote
dim Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 i dont see what you lot are saying about the beat. There's a steady 4/4 pulse throughout that doesnt change tempo or modulate at all. Some of the sounds dont match the pulse and the pulse isnt always audible but this has clearly been quantised digitally.Set a metronome or a click going to it and I bet all syncs. Not that i'll be mixing it in any time soon. RichoKidd Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 This fits under waking up my girlfriends parents with fucken awful fucken music at 6:01am Quote
LabRat Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 This stuff is still produced just like any other track is produced. There are a lot of off beat sounds which give the illusion that it's all out of wack. Most tunes sound the same through out the whole tune but it has similar properties to a progressive tune, whether it be trance or house. Some tracks have some really cool chopped up vocals. Some of this stuff is pretty hard to mix (DJ wise) too.Anyone want to hear a mix I did a few years ago? Quote

CDJbpm Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Its hectic and jumbled. How the fark would you dance to that. Might sound sick after 38 beers a 3 tabs of acid. Quote
LabRat Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 i dont seem to have it on this laptop. will need to source my other one but i will have it up for you guys to listen to Quote
LabRat Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 i found it!!! on an old hosting site i use to use back in high school (also under my high school raver name lol)hope this worksbalistik_-_noise_pollution_mini_mix.mp3 Quote
yizzle Posted May 28, 2011 Author Posted May 28, 2011 Nice work Spitfire. I looked a bit into Shranz, Im not sure if some of the stuff like Toecutter fits into it though. Shranz just seems a bit repetitive and heavy bass, where Toecutter and other people like The Disneyland Escape Plan (whom i think may fit under the same genre) are more quirky?I much prefer your music on soundcloud spitfire, its neat'o Quote
