Hobberz Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Scored a gig at some underage nightclub disco thing tomorrow night for a few hours, should be interesting. Play what I want as long as there is no swearing, thats fine by me because most of my stuff doesn't have any. Wonder if these kids have herd of dubstep Nah, will probably mostly be commercial/electro stuff.... Quote
Hobberz Posted April 28, 2011 Author Posted April 28, 2011 drop dubstep:)I need a video camera so I can capture their expressions when I drop it. Quote

eggssell Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 i dont think you give under eighteens enuff credit. some of y'all were just eighteen in the last two yrs i was here!there are people that are in the dance scene and those that arent (and will only know dance music frm video hits and today fm). i dont think age plays a part. i was chilling w my niece and nephew a couple of weeks back (16 and almost 15 respectively). and they know garage, dubstep, drumstep, brostep and so on. Hobberz Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 Hmmmm, what an experience.Night started out ok considering the gig, played some commercial with a few remixes off MOS- Annual 2001, like Dirty talk, Dance the way I feel, Take over control etc etc. All seems to be going pretty good.Switch it up to some RnB like Flo Rida, Pitbull, Chris Brown, etc etc. (If you would classify that as RnB). The kids are loving it.Kids really start dancing when I drop some electro like crookers remix's, dj's from mars mash ups and other assorted bits and pieces. Asked to turn it off because the kids don't like it. Thats strange, check out the dance floor!!! And I had a kid that gave me a cd to play that was full of electro tunes. The kids ask the people running the show if I could play some old school stuff. Macarena-YUP, Nutbush-YUP. But than it all falls apart when I drop Simply the best, security comes up and tells me that the owner doesn't want the children to hear that because it will encourage them to be competitive and think life is all about winning and being the best. WTF!!!!/RANT Quote
Hobberz Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 owner sounds like a dumb WHALEThey just have no idea about what music people are into these days. On the brights side it doesn't really bother me. For One- underage gigs are not my scene it was just easy coin. Two- I had employee's telling me I need to come back because what I played was interesting, different and entertaining. Three- I scored a little job make up a mix for a sporting teams intro. Quote
