Ravni Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 hey guys i didnt know where to post this and non syd ppl can help me out on this one as well, firstly has anyone dj on this ship in syd??? experiences with the company ? here is the link if anyone can be bothered to look at thisbasically its a boat that is all glasshttp://www.starshipsydney.com.au/external.htmlim thinking two jbls and two subs for the glass area?? for 300 ppl is that enough ? any comments would be helpful Quote
andythemusician Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 That should be fine for 300 in that kind space - pretty enclosed and all glass will mean it will be a very live room, very noisy because there are no walls to absorb the sound. You'll be relying on the people themselves to soak up a bit of the sound.Cluster the subs together to give them a bit more output, and get your tops up around head height. Quote
pulsebeat Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 +rep andy for great feedbackreallythats top notch! Quote
andythemusician Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 No problem, always happy to help. Was also gonna say, after checking out photos from other albums on that site, I would be having a chat with the dude / dudette in charge of the boat venue thingy (feels weird to call it a venue?) before you go much further. See what kind of limitations they have in terms of weight, power, area for you to fit in, aesthetics (they can get pretty particular).Particularly power - if they are tight with it, you might not be able to do subs, and may need LED lights only.Just some more thoughts for ya Quote
Ravni Posted April 11, 2011 Author Posted April 11, 2011 thanks dude ur a huge help! i got a mate of mine that sets up for me most times and its his gear so its hassle free for me, i still have to speak to the lady about lights might just go for some LED's see how we go cheers dude for the recomendations the guy i get sets up pretty good just i usally give him the numbers and the amount of speakers I rekon but i like getting someone else's input and from all your other posts u seem to know alot more than i really do +rep Quote
eggssell Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 oh wow i use to see that thang docked all the time when i hit georges at king street wharf. for those that dont know georges is a restaurant but has a mezze, cocktail and cigar lounge area. hit it all the time, top food (went thru a bad run of about 4 months then went back to goodness) esp. the hot chocolate pudding (swap the listerine mint ice cream for vanilla though); and nice cocktails. vanilla/lychee caprioska is my poison!!!use to be able to get 20% off if you use yer amex but i think thats gone now.back to topic, yeah man that ship looks nice. SourceRaver Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Yep...two tops and two subs will be plenty. Pretty much what I use at my auditorium at work and its way bigger than the area you'll be working with. Quote
