SolDios Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 hey, so I have my first gig coming up in about a month at a 16th. :S theres going to be kids with drinks and I do not want them ANYWHERE near my mixer. any suggestions for a cheap barrier. I was thinking like poles with red rope going between them like in lines. then it would look at-least half classy... Quote
Cupe Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 just cordon the area off with anything you can find.if you're REALLY worried make the wall hard to get over, or get razorwire Quote
andythemusician Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Surround your setup with pedo bear? Try and use the room to your advantage, put yourself in a corner so you only have to worry about the front. You could get a facade that stops anyone being able to reach your table, and also it makes your shit look better being covered up. Quote
pulsebeat Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Put your setup on the table, in the corner room, have a sign saying "No drinks on the table"and if your really that worried get a mate to help you out, standing near the table, keeping guys away.If you were using your own table and that shit i would sort out some plywood and put it up on the table to make a booth setup, hide the wires and protect your shit Quote
Ravni Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 tip dont leave ur stuff unattended, people tend to put drinks down and an easy spill is all it takes Quote
SourceRaver Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I saw a mobile dj once who had some of those tall orange bollards like you see at road works. He covered them with black material and found some nice black rope to go in between. Looked really good (and cheap)! Quote
SolDios Posted April 11, 2011 Author Posted April 11, 2011 Yeh I was thinking about that! do you know where I could get any? Quote
SolDios Posted April 11, 2011 Author Posted April 11, 2011 awesome! you don't happen to know how much for do you? Quote
Jaz Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 The cheapest way is to just wack a table or something in front of your that keeps them 4 feet away... Quote
CBG Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 try elevating your decks with stands as well. thats what i do if im giggin with the lappy Quote
Jaz Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 yeh thats a good point as well ^ plus the higher your decks are the less saw your neck and back will be from hunching over Quote
crundyy Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 where bouts ya at? pay me and ill be your bodygaurd. Quote
Hobberz Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 LOL Crundyy. Just make up sign dude, if you see someone walking towards your gear with a drink than stop them. If they don't listen then just turn the music off until they decide they will play by your rules. Quote
Gandy Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 where bouts ya at? pay me and ill be your bodygaurd.he makes a good point, if crundyys fighting every WHALE there like he does on the weekends no ones going to be able to touch your gear Quote
Jaz Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 ive seen crundyy and trust me he needs to keep his shirt on Quote
legunner Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I have always thought about how to keep idiots away from my decks, i find the best thing i ever did was get my cdj's in a road stand and stand it up using a keyboard stand, then there is no room for idiot to leave there drinks.I had most success with that but in your situation i think what the boys mentioned above would work just fine Quote
Jaz Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 that sounds alright but a keyboard stand it probly less stable then a table, spesh when a DJM800, 2CDJ900's and a roadcase can weigh like 60KG+how did yoou find it? Quote
eggssell Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 yeah i remember considering that setup, but what if someone bumps the table Quote
Ravni Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 yeah i remember considering that setup, but what if someone bumps the tableah got the same set up and its quite scary to see ur shit almost fall of the stand so thats why i use two piano stands now lol Quote
