SolDios Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Hey I was wondering, at the seaford tavern I know they have a residant dj, do you think If I gave them a call, I could ask if I could see how he does his stuff? like not a guest set or anything, just watching what he does Quote
Jaz Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 hey thats me man! not really but you wouldnt even have to give him, just shake his hand on the night, let him no your a rookie DJ, he'll probly let you watch if he's not an ass Quote
Hobberz Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Just have a chat with him on the night dude, tell him your situation and see what he says.As Jaz said, if he is not a total ass than he should be happy to let you watch. Quote
CDJbpm Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Definitely introduce yourself to the DJ. I'm a rookie DJ as well and I'm always saying g'day. Especially if they're playing a wicked tune I haven't heard. Having said that, some DJ's are not interested while others are really keen for a chat especially if its quiet. Quote
LabRat Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 I go around having a chat to djs. The more people you know the better I guess. You won't be friends with everyone but the more people you talk to the better it will be for ya. Most guys always give ya a tip or two if you ask. If you spot one of the dj's at the bar after his set, that's probably a good time to start chatting. I'd say don't be scared of talking to anyone either. Example, I went up to John Course about a earlier this year and he is a top bloke! Gave me some advice and just spoke about some random shit for a bit. Quote
Jaz Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 in saying that spitfire is right, just dont try and steal him from his set haha Quote
LabRat Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 oh to add to my comment, if the guy is opening then feel free to go up and say wassup. opening is boring as shit lol Quote
GuptRX Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 If the d-floor is packed and the dj is midway thru a serious mix, hold back. If like spitfire said, theyr opening and its pretty quiet, or you see them talking to other people then go for it! Quote
