SolDios Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 hey, Im just letting you know Ive decided to stick with my audioline all in one mixer and not upgrade to the mixtrack pro, my main reasons I wanted to upgrade was transporting music and lack of effectsThe way I have worked around this is I am just going to figure out the songs I am going to use pre-gig and pre apply effects before hand, then I can mix them into the track later. thank you guys for all the advice, il save for the dennon 6000 Quote

The denon is good but the platters look small. If sol dios is getting started he may be better using a platter with real vinyl emulation resolution aswell? BTW I totally agree with your other thread: you should totally learn to beatmatch/sync yourself. All DJS who use auto sync sound the same, no feel, no element of individual choice to how the beats line up...If you're saving up for the 6000 consider the ns6 too mate. p.s. had a go on the traktor s4, vinyl emulation ok, not as good as cdj, better then most usb controllers. but putting the platters out of line with the cross fader is a no no to anyone who is trying to move any turntablist skills to a new platform. What I might get next is a mixer with a midi plug too! that way I can have some cd djs, a mixer and a tracktor controller (the remote style one). then I can pretty well play everything , accept vinyl Quote
dim Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 good stuff mate, variety is a good thing while experimenting/finding your style.about the small platters tho: it's not how many fingers you can get on it that matters, it's how much precision the disc can offer you. Just like the resolution of a telly screen, if the thing is bigger and the pixels are the same size then you get loads more pixles so more accuracy in the image. On a platter if the thing is smaller a movement of 1mm can be a whole beat of music, but if the platter is a proper size that beat can be manipulated through a few more mm. Might sound technical but trust me, it makes a difference.12" vinyl clearly best for this, but as cdjs = no skipping and no wear to rare vinyl I made the change, anything smaller would kill me.wish i was your age and able to begin with all the options available to ya, must be amazing! dim Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 i think that is the best option to anyway learning new, you'll get the best all round knowledge of how all works, and then be best set to decide which path to follow after.If you have a short attention span and dont like learning you may come unstuck by balancing carts, calibrating timecode, catalogueing tunes in the software, manually beatmatching etc etc. but if that were the case you'd have bought dj hero on the playstation wouldnt you?nice one sol dios. dim Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 hmmm, ok actually looked a bit more at that denon thing.First i just moved on coz the platters look uncomfortably small for turntablisms but it has got a lot going for it.awesome88: do you scratch? how does it compare with cdjs? and how big are the platters?This denon is cheaper in uk than the numark ns6 which will be released mid april and looks like my best yet. always happy to save a bit of cash though, especially as the denon has more in/outs... dim Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 fair play,i'm no turntablist, I do a few juggles and like to transform + scribble but enjoy a cut mix too, learnt on vinyls, then transferred to cdjs so need something at least as responsive as them. After platter size and resolution most important of all is some indication on the controller that shows how close you are to the sample without having to look at laptop screen. It was one of the main reasons vinyl junkies were right to insist that no real dj would ever use cd players.Then pioneer invented vinyl emulation on the cdj 1000s.You liking the s4 tho? do you scratch?
