SolDios Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 Oh and my current kit is:Audio:2 audioline 15" powered pa speakers1 audioline all in one mixer(I dident realize they where both audio line till like a month ago )Lighting:2 Rotating LED moon flowers1 RGB Tri flash light (my centerpiece light)2 lazer protectors1 smoke machine16 floodlights with colored globes (for outdoor gigs) connected to a 4 channel lighting chaser(I know its simple, but I just wanted something to get me started) Quote
eggssell Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 mayne at 16 thats far from simple. if we didnt hire some turnies and some lights (always had to have the UV and a strobe), we would be using my old mans turntable, a couple of tapedecks, and then eventually added a cd player and a discman. all rigged into an old school amplifer. and at some house parties we just changed all the globes to red Quote
SolDios Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 haha thanks egg haha that sounds awesome :3 the only reason I could afford my kit is I got $900 in awards from school last year Quote
pulsebeat Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 mate starting out at 16 is awesomewhat i would do is keep the seetup you have ATM and then after you save some dosh get some turnies or cdjsdont take those out but keep using the current setupthen when you have enough dosh get traktor s4then when you turn 18 you know the functions of the cdjs (most clubs if not all clubs use em) and still have a reliable small setup you take to partys and shitoh and welcome to our lovley forum brother Quote
Hobberz Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Thats a nice little package you have dude. I reckon just save a few more dollars and get some CDJ's. You will benefit from CDJ's alot more than what you would if you were using a controller. The way I see it, You could be awesome on your Numark controller but if someone puts a set of CDJ's in front of you I would imagine that you wont really know what your doing and its probably going to sound like shit. SourceRaver Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 PASS!(Sorry Sol...we keep getting this weirdo posting on here and I was giving you a quick test just to make sure it wasnt him. Welcome to the forum!). Quote
SolDios Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 mmm yeh good point, don't worry about the not knowing how to use cd'djs though before I started out myself, I went and worked with a mid sized mobile dj for 3 months to see if I liked it or not. Im very at home with cd dj's but the only reason I wasn't getting them was the price. Quote
legunner Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Hey dude welcome to the forums. For what you are doing i'd keep the gear you have at the moment and save until your current controller breaks or you have saved enough for an S4.As i said before if you are going to stick with a laptop and a midi controller you're best bet would be to save up for a Traktor S4, Denon MC6000(i think it's called) or even a Vestax VCI-100 from DJTechTools. For more info PM me i'd be glad to give you advice Quote
Cupe Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Don't bother pm'ingKeep it on the boards and everyone can help Quote
SolDios Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 thank you guys for being so suportive! if I may ask though, why a Vestax VCI-100 over a newmark mixtrack pro?also the reason I wish to upgrade from the audioline all in one I have now is that its extrealmy basic, there are 2 effects "brake and reverse" and strange audio levels, not to mention the audio levels are very strange :S Also Im sick of burning bucket loads of cds XD.trust me though, If I could get that Dennon one, I would :3 it is my dream controller Quote
legunner Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Fair enough. The most obvious point that i can think of is that the VCI is a Vestax and in my opinion is a much better build then the numark. Is the Numark a standalone piece of equipment or do you need a soundcard/audio interface? Quote
SolDios Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 The pro version is the one I want and yes, that has an inbuilt soundcard, headphone and mic jack too! plus I like the layout of the mixtrack pro better Quote
legunner Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 okay well the only thing to be aware of is the quality of the controller Quote
MickyG Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 sol I use x-ponent for mobile dj + mix meister on 2nd laptop you don't have to use beat-match but you can, and that leaves your hands free to play with other effects.I agree that you swap to S4 if you want to play clubs, But if you only use your own gear it dont matter wot you got Its how you use it..yeh?I started late and enjoy every gig I do..Enjoy your music our young friend.
