eggssell Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 yo. spank rock along with hoff and blu jemz have put out a mixtape under the moniker mobroder. just google mobroder, its free. freakig awesome. i dl'd a couple weeks ago but didnt get on it till this week and ive played it 3 times already. basically the whole hour plays like a night in the life of mobroder. old school late 70's funk and disco sounds with tye occasional rhyme by spank rock. lots of female vocals too. get at it Quote
eggssell Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 im sure you heard spank rock but didnt know it was spank rock. especially bump, which was on all radios and all tv shows when it dropped many years ago.the spank rock collective has spawned careers for amanda blank and xxxchange, as well as producer/ djs delvin & darko. who were all artists prior to but allowed the spank rock album yoyoyoyoyoyo to really get out there (or become international as the hippity hoppers say).you may have heard in my last mix (ill embed tonight ) i went from a spank rock to a slop rock remix (very badly). that track was from the spank rock and benny blanco collabo bangers & cash (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangers_%26_Cash ). this was one of the best EPs of all time, of all time. basically benny used samples from 2 live Crew Songs for all the tracks.the spank rock collectives fabric live mix is also my fave fabric live mix of all time http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FabricLive.33anyways i know you like sounds & pictures so ill youtube bomb it tonight Quote
Jaz Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 yeh the name does sound familiar, yeh hit me with some tunes Quote
eggssell Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 aiight. so bump was the first track i came across spank rock. it was blowing up hard. now as above spank rock was more like a collective, with naeem (or spank rock mc), producer armani xxxchange, devlin & darko.their music was of the bmore gutter style (though hailing from philly this use to get a bit of debate on the nets), which is in the ghetto tech region. there was no clip, but ive always loved this performance. amanda blank kills it! wait for when she goes double time. her album is also the ish! nice little pop album with its share of bmore bass. Quote
eggssell Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 after yoyoyoyoyo spank rock came out with a couple of remixes or bootlegs or cameos that were fire.first up a track with pase rock, again w amanda blank. this is one of my favourite tracks of all time."show your baby rat" (not real clip) Quote
eggssell Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 and this justice song. this version kills. yet another one of my faves. mos def ftw. and who said hip hoppers rapping on dance beats was shyte! Quote
eggssell Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 the above track was mixed by producer benny blanco, who spank rock mc would collabo with for bangers & cash EP. which is one of the best EP's ever!! i still rock it, and used it in my last mix. as mentioned they primarily used 2 live crew samples for the beats.heres a couple from it.. first up a fat fat track again w amanda blank. the OG clip is xrated, but its awesome. i cant find any good copies online anymore. if you can check it, its kinda like NERD's lapdance clip. anyways heres a live version (so bass overpowers)."deez nuts"another phatty track this time with santigold and illviaB.O.O.T.A.Y - Spank Rock and Benny Blanco are: Bangers & CashSPANK ROCK | Myspace Music Videos Quote
eggssell Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 spank rock and santi were no strangers to each other, with naeem providing a verse on shove it(another live shit sound version)and they also came together on NASA's track whachadoin with MIA Quote
eggssell Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 and before this years mobroder (the OP) he did a couple more collaboson Mark Ronsons release last yearand of course with my faves ninjasonik. in fact he drops on a few tracks with the ninja on their last ep (which is free so cop it) Quote
