Cupe Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 What's the best piece(s) of equipment you could get that would get you mobile.I was looking at those all in 1 deck things and they look like they'd do the job..But a million CD's? Looks like a laptop would be the best option? And speakers etc?THOUGHTS? Quote
Hobberz Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 1. Borrow a mate's laptop.2. Download Virtual Dj for free off the interweb.3. PC speakers. You said cheap right? Quote
Cupe Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 without it being fucken shita piece of gear you actually need to mix onlike that traktor deck thing looked pretty dope Quote
Hobberz Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 I would probably choose between either the Traktor S4 midi controller or the new Denon one. They both seem to be a pretty good design and look solid as.Using a laptop or cd's would just come down to personal choice and what people are comfortable with I guess. Quote
Hobberz Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 From memory the Traktor S4 is around the $900 mark, and the Denon unit is like $1100-$1200. Thats off the top of my head. Karma has the S4 setup like in that picture and I think awesome has the Denon one. Quote
Hobberz Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Here is a review of the Denon DN-MC6000. Awesome88 started out with the Traktor S4 but changed to the Denon.http://www.ausdjforums.com/modules.php? ... pic&t=4927 Quote
awesome88 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 yup, i did. Denon one means you can use whatever program you want. i do like the case you can get for the S4, but like i have said, i am way more happy with the denon than the S4 as outlined in the review.if you think of any specific questions let me know cupe Quote

awesome88 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 if you already have the laptop, you could probably get the s4+case for around $1200. Id say check it with your laptop though, cos it was audio problems i had. Quote

lloydc Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 $2k = controller, road case and budget laptopThe denon controller would be my pick, it seems more solid and has XLR outputs Quote

SourceRaver Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 I have the very first Hercules console and it runs traktor and vdj easily. Probably pick one up second hand for $150. Buy yourself a second hand medium spec pc and your in the game! Just throw the box under your desk and replace it with a lappy when you can. Check out your local production companies for ex hire powered speakers and put a really bad add in gumtree promoting yourself...hey presto your a mobile dj! Quote
