just to let everyone know SAE do a BACHELOR OF AUDIO PRODUCTION which is under fee help. so even if you have no money you can do the course because the government pays for it. untill you earn over 45k you dont have to pay it back. production is too hard on your own get the government to help you become a better producer..... if production is your thing you would be silly not to. and the latest macbook pro for $500 for all NEW students.. bring it on. do it in byron bay and live on campus with the help of gillard another good option.....

Any one can do the course no prerequisites easy to get into.

I start in 2 weeks. yay....

Massively overpriced for a highly competitive industry.

You still have to pay back the money and by the time you earning enough to do so, you are gunna be worrying about car loans and mortgages.

Better off doing what I have done and find a proper Uni or tafe and doing it there. My course cost $1.5k and all the teachers are highly experienced.

fair enough, i didn't look into pricing/know how much those courses are normally, but colleges are always more expensive than uni/tafe etc

i think that tafe offers the same course heaps heaps cheaper. i went to SAE and did EMP (electronic music production) 3k for 6 months. was alright. not great

+1

SAE is not very good

I was looking at EMP there and after reading a few different articles online about it the general consensus seems to be they aren't bad at all, but not worth the money at all either. Better off paying for 1 on 1 sessions with your money IMO.

cost me in the long run i guess but i have no money to do 1 on 1 lessons. if i ever earn over 45k a year then ill gladly pay it back.

highly competitive industry is an understatement. thinking of becoming a successful producer is an unrealistic dream but i get a degree out of it. and good knowing i can commit to something full time for a few years.

I just wanna be able to make music that im actually happy with not banging my head against a wall.

each to their own.

Currently doing this course, I think you all have an entirely warped view of what you get out of the it though. If you are good and apply yourself, you will get a career in the audio industry no doubt, because the lectures (well the ones in sydney at least) are very highly respected in the audio world. I think the percs of the whole thing aren't apparent until your actually part of the community.

But at the OP, If you've enrolled to learn how to make electronic music you're kidding yourself, its not a course to become the next big DJ, sure it covers it, but the BAP lecturers care very little for it.
