pill
Hello All,I'm looking for a new mixer with multiple mic inputs (at least two, preferably XLR).Main selling points are price, quality and flexibility. The behringer ddm4000 and vmx1000 are looking the best at the moment. However most of my mixing is only in VDJ so the digital features aren't that important.Below are some candidates. Any suggestions/comments?https://www.storedj.com.au/products/BEH-DDM4000 $549http://www.audiolinepro.com/DMIX4SP.html ~$250 (need to confirm if 2 mics though)https://www.storedj.com.au/products/NUM-C2 $339https://www.storedj.com.au/products/BEH-VMX1000USB $369https://www.storedj.com.au/products/VES-VMC004XL $599Your feedback is greatly appreciated! FancyPants
the vmx1000 is a shitbox! every time one is sold, an african child dies. I had one of the old type years ago without usb. it ruined my life. DDM4000 is by far the best mixer behringer have made, people seriously underestimate it because of its name. its built pretty tough and in terms of flexibility, it can do just about anything a mixer can do. if your concerned about quality i'd stay clear of audioline and numark (personal opinion). might be worth shopping around, I got a DDM4000 from store dj for under 500 bucks about 2 years ago

andyman
Will it be used for rap battles?
SourceRaver
Why not buy a small sub mixer such as:http://www.activemusician.com/Behringer ... -c4299b375You still use your existing equipment and have a line level signal going into the sub mixer, and then onto your speakers. You can connect two microphones and any MC'ing can be sent straight thru to the main speakers and not your monitor speaker (if your using one).Just a thought. pill
That's exactly what i've been doing for the last year source, but I'm looking to streamline and quicken pack up/set down time by putting mixer/eq/mic reciever in the same case. Going in to kosmic to check them out today
pill
ok, update.it won't be used for rap battles in the near future, although at my 21st i do plan for an eminem-off.Also, played with a vmx1000 today and it was horrible. slider quality worse than the bcd3000. @Fancypants, how do you find the buttons on the ddm4000? some of the push buttons felt a bit non-durable to me. are you using it with software or as an analog mixer? lloydc
the buttons aren't the best on the DDM4000
FancyPants
yeah the buttons feel loose, saying that i never had one fuck up. I never used it with software, theres videos on youtube where people use it as a controller for serato and abelton

andythemusician
Quick thought - why don't you keep your current setup, and just buy a 1U mixer? That way you tie the DJ mixer into that, as well as any other mics you want, and then that feeds the amps, etc.Not a setup that suits everyone, but thought I'd chuck it into the mix in case you hadn't considered it. andythemusician
Hells yeah! I like the look of that one! Better chuck that on my 'to research more into' list. And Soundcraft FTW!
andythemusician
Hmm, although it does take 8U or 9U space in the rack... pretty space hungry unit...Considering my other one takes up 5U, and allows me to also have a 2U CD controller and a 3U DMX controller. At 9U, you'd only be able to have a gooseneck lamp...
