legunner Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Hey guys i have a few club gigs where i have to take my own gear so i was thinking i may aswell update my setup. At the moment i have two pioneer cdj200's and a behringer ddm4000.I was thinking of buying a macbook pro and running traktor as i really enjoy using the program.I play mostly electro house and dubstep so what setup would you guys recommend?A few of my assosciates have recommended that i sell the 200's and get 2 traktor x1's and keep my mixer.Just wanted to get the forums opinion Quote
awesome88 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 do you want to stay with decks and a mixer? just thinking if you are doing mobile gigs, and thinking about getting a macbook, a controller might be easier than the 2 X1's + mixer. then you still have the jogwheels etc. Even if you just look at it from a portability aspect. I wouldn't use jog wheels on traktor because of the auto-sync option. What controller would you recommend? Quote
awesome88 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 if you want traktor, i would say either the traktor kontrol S4 or the Denon dn-mc6000. i think they are best value for money.... both around the $1000 mark, which gives you a lot of options and features.here is a review of the S4:http://www.djtechtools.com/2010/11/01/n ... s4-review/and here is a review i did of the dn-mc6000:http://www.ausdjforums.com/modules.php? ... highlight=have a read and see what you think. It takes me about 5 mins to pack up my gear to move it around. I had the S4, but now i have the mc6000. Both are really good though, and the best controllers out there at the moment, so it's just comes down to preference. Quote
pill Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 I'd also reccommend going down the controller road, just make sure to avoid cheap and nastys. They are not worth your time or $300. Quote
lloydc Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 my first question would be, do you use more than 2 deck when you're mixing?if not, the cheap option is an audio 2 and a kontrol X1 with traktor. Quote

I guess the X1's are small anyway so yer, either way Quote
legunner Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 Yeah if i do get a kontrol x1 could i use that in conjunction with my ddm4000 and traktor? just use the x1 to control the actual decks. Quote
