awesome88
Basically, i know nothing about scratching, and would like to at least know some basics. I have a controller, and have no plans being a scratch dj, but i'd like to know some basics for when people say "can you do that wikki waa waa thing?" and i don't have to exlain why i don't do that kind of djing...and just for some fun every now and then.I'm guessing i could look on youtube for tutorials etc. but does anyone have any reccomendations of sites for really basic techniques? Also, are there special tracks people use to scratch with? like i said... my knowledge of scratching is next to
eggssell
cupe posted up qberts tutorials.i also suggest dj angelo's tutorials who you can search for directly or link off dj tutor, or link off studio scratches website.also get yourself super seal. its about $8 for the digital version from qberts store (thud rumble).it has all the wahhh, freshhhh, scratch, beeep, sounds that the tutes use. as well as nice little beats to scratch too. eggssell
no worries. just remember one thing though, as z-trip says in his mini tutorial on the scratch film extras, doesnt matter how technically perfect you are just make sure it sounds good. i.e. ride the beat, make music. it aint about how many cuts you can get in your flare or crab if it sounds like incoherent noise.if you listen to the OG version of cudi's make her say, a-traks scratches are so minimal and so old school but it was the perfect compliment to the song.
