Fizicx Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 I'm new to djing and im heading towards mixing with cd's. so iv'e heard when you dj at a gig you shouldn't mix with any tracks that doesnt have a bit rate of 320kbps because the sound quality isn't that great. i was wondering, when i buy cd's and upload them onto the computer the bit rate is 256kpbs (VBR). How can i use cd's but have a bit rate of 320kpbs?can anybody drop some knowledge on me? much appreciated. Quote
LabRat Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 when you copy the cd to your computer there should be a setting within the program you're using. for example - iTunes has an Import setting which allows you to choose between the AAC format which is accociated with apple (i think) or a more standardized 320kbs import Quote
Jaz Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 i thought it was the opposite, 320 is better isnt it? Quote
LabRat Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 from what i understood he wants to rip a cd onto his computer but the rip setting has a default at 256 to keep the file size down but the quality still half decent Quote
Funky_Steve Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Further to the original question, what program do people use to rip from CD to computer? What do people recommend or want to warn not to use? Quote

Jaz Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 yeh nero is good but a hassle cause you have to search the C-drive for songs rather then having them all in your itunes Quote
tubby Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I use freerip to rip all my cd's to flac. it's free and never found the need for anythign else Quote
eggssell Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 yeh nero is good but a hassle cause you have to search the C-drive for songs rather then having them all in your itunesyour assuming everyone keeps their tunes in itunes.other than loading stuff onto my iphone i dont go near it Quote
tubby Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 got to say I avoid itunes as much as possible. really wish the iphone would jsut work as an external drive and let me copy/paste and sort my music. only for the convergance factor that it gets used, my 8 year old iriver is still a better player than the iphone, and sounds better too Quote

Seems to be fine... i don't use it to listen to music, because normally i'm using traktor, but seems fine for ripping mp3s for me. I use it to convert wav's i've recorded into mp3's as well.seems alright to me Quote
