mattus123 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 So i was out at a club the other nightand i decided that i would actually watch the DJ this timeand i noticed him making large exagerated scratch movements with the decks, yet no scratch noise was coming from the speakers.it was quite obvious he was just pretending to scratch, even thou the volume on that track was turned offim jsut wondering how many DJ's out there do that sortah thing...it kinda seems like posingor is that just me? eggssell Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 are you sure he wasnt just cueing?for vinyl you have to spin back to yer start point everytime you want to cue it up after pitching it (which could be several times well for me anywho ). and before you drop its not unusual to hit the one several times, which can look like a scratch movement. such as for me i count 1,2,3,4 and then from 5 to 8 i quite often hit the one in double time. mattus123 Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 nah he defeintly wasnt cueinghe was realli going at it witht he scracthing movements, and turnign the EQ knobs all over the joint (only on the track that wasnt playing thou)it looked like he was doing turntablism...BUT....no sound was coming outit was all for show Quote
Jaz Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Possibly using a platter effect on the cued song to see how it sounded, or scratching the cued song to decide if it's gonna sound good to drop in Quote
djarmed Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 hahaha or maybe he was just trying to look cool?????? Quote
pulsebeat Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 maybe he was trying to cue and make sure the eqs sounded right?but you would be suprisedlots of clubs have got nightlife up Quote
Jaz Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 i know plenty of pub DJ's who press play on a VDJ playlist (it auto mixes the last 30 seconds of a song) and stand there with there arms crossed all night Quote
