Jaz Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Mpk49 + Ableton, doesnt matter what instrument i have running when ever i press a key on my keyboard the sound comes out a second later....its really giving me the shits when trying to play in time with a drum beat....how to fix? Quote
eggssell Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 is there latency settings. i know when i started reason, i had to set the number of samples to buffer or something like that. Quote
Jaz Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 I'm guessing that would be under options/preferencesam at work right now, will check when I get home tonightit's retarded, I've had to adjust to playing thing earlier then I should Quote
Jaz Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 Not sure if this is right or wrong, help? Quote
eggssell Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 dont use ableton but have you googled for recommended latency. Quote
Jaz Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 will give it a go now, recommended latency for my specific controller or Ableton in general? sorry man but i barely know what latency is Quote
eggssell Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 ha ha im not sure i do either but it relates to the lag which is based on how much yer computer can take. so you may find recommendations but in the end you have to fuck w it till you get whats best for you. like in tsp its not necessarily the best to have zero latency if yer pc cant take it Quote
wazza Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 latency is the time it takes from when you push a button/key on you midi controller to when you hear the audio ....you will need ASIO drivers...try this...it free..& will make your laptop sound card( WDM )...into a ASIO low latencyhttp://www.asio4all.com/if that dont work you need a sound card with ASIO drivers.....the better the sound card the better the audio & latencymy edirol fa 66 firewire sound card has about 3 to 5 ms..... Quote
Jaz Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 I think i still have ASIO drivers left over from my hercules RMX midi but ill get that 1 you linked anyway, thanks heaps wazza, will let you know if it workedGot my latency down from 4096 (pictured) to 1008 but any lower then that and it snap crackle and popsit still seems laggy but not as badgetting drivers now Quote
Jaz Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 ASIO Driver dropped it down to 512 samples and like 16ms output latency will have to fuck around with it tomorrow n see if its un-noticable lagthanks wazza Quote
wazza Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 laptop sound cards are shit...so I do think you will get down to 128 ( 3 to 5 ms )...you might get its down to 256 ( 5 to 9 ) ms Quote
Jaz Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 should i just keep dropping it like i was before until i get that popping feedback, then take it up so its sitting just above the bad area? Quote
CBG Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 yeah asio driver. you will get the latency down by reducing the sample rate jaz. try 44. you wont notice it.optimal is 7.5ms total. they should be equal. Quote
eggssell Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 djaz did you get tsp during the sale? if so cant you use your audio 8 as the sound card? Quote
Jaz Posted January 13, 2011 Author Posted January 13, 2011 ok will try get it down even more todaySorry to say eggs but my traktor is a naughty version but i dont use it anyway, when i did i had it connection to the ASIO drivers that came with my Hercules RMX Quote
