i think so, but that DDJT1 you basically have to have a computer and DJ software to use it....why not go CDJ and get the best of both worlds...i guess it all depends on the price tag...if its a couple of hundred it will make sense to buy it as a beginner rather then spending $2000 on CDJ's....just have to wait n see i guess

maybe it will have USB plugs so you wont need the software. hence it will be a CDJ mixer combo all in one and fit it in your oversized backpack.

you do know playing cd files and playing digital files from a computer or usb is exactly the same. cd's are nothing more than media, the cdj reads the data stores it in a buffer as an electronic file then controls it. when you pitch up and down you arent actually controlling the cd. its all digital

EDIT: "buffer" ha ha ha i dont know the jargon but you know what i mean

they are bringing out a turntable?

you mean the dj-3500? been around in aus and NZ for ages, though i think it is a rebadged omnitronic dd-2250 or the like

HID mode (human interface device) mode for cdj means you dont need an external soundcard or timecoded cds to play your digital meda.

for example:

my home setup two of the cdjs plug into the mixer via white/red rca cables, then a usb cable from each cdj plugs into my laptop for use with traktor.

same at our clubs, i just take in my laptop and plug the two 2000 decks into laptop and off i go

you can do either, but i dont see why you would want to control it via the laptop when you have your decks and mixer there.

its just a lot less hassle to carry only 2 usb cables

compared to the audio 8, the three million cables that plug into the audio 8 and the cdjs/mixer having to carry timecoded cds and a laptop so no one i know ever uses timecode anymore

From Pioneer website:

Introducing 2 new controllers: the DDJ-T1 will offer Pioneer operability to users of TRAKTOR DJ software, while the DDJ-S1 does the same for Serato ITCH.

posted 6 January 2011

A perfect integration of each software's functionality and our leading-edge hardware, the controllers offer the same operability and layout as our pro-DJ equipment – whilst enabling DJs to play music files from the computer.
