I got a used Numark Mixtrack that I'd picked up at school for $80.00. Nearly everyone has a Numark Mixtrack now and they're so common that they're hard to sell now, so you can pick one up real cheap.

I'm running Virtual DJ right now but I'm looking around for customised CDJ 850 xml file for Virtual DJ thats going around thats just fully sik, people that have this xml file try to sell it for $150 when everyone knows its on the internet for free. I'll just wait for a link to come up then just download it for free as well, then I'll probably try and sell it too. At the moment I'm just mixing Hip-Hop and R&B songs that everyone downloads for free and shares with everyone else for free. I love mixing tricking with just 3 Hot-Cues, using effects and scratching.

The only thing I hate is that nearly every second person has a Numark Mixtrack now, eventually they'll become so common that you'd never get invited to DJ a friends gig or party.

Yeah well I wanted vinyl. Ive been looking for maybe three months now waiting. It's hard to pick up cheap techs, I got lucky the dude who I got my gear off wanted money for new years eve. I think I might go get Serato this week from djwarehouse. I'm pumped. I got a bunch of random vinyls too, breaks and stuff.

yeah mate recordstore is the place to go.

there is also spank records around the corner from there. bit more pricier but can get a lot of newer stuff and wider genre range.

commercial you can get from jb at galleries victoria.

and there is a hip hop place on oxford. never been but one of the members pointed it out. i think it was called miguel records.

online theirs htfr, junorecords and turntable lab from overseas. domestically there is rocking horse and a place in adelaide. crap cant remember the name. had clinic in the name i think.

personally since buying traktor scratch ive only ever bought battle records.

pffft really?

what difference does it make. plays the same. if i were to buy vinyl it would serve no purpose except for the look of it, and im not the appearance seeking type.

im sure it prob does sound warmer on a good set of monitors that reproduce sound to exactly how the artist wanted it t sound. but on my stereo the mp3's and my old vinyl all sound the same.

sure if i had some spare scratch and some spare time id hunt for some bargains, but really if i could pay $20 for the same release i can get for $5, in my present sitch id go the $5 anyday of the week.

the only vinyl i would consider is shit i cant get, like a good old hiphop 12inch with the instrumental, acapella, dub mix and shep pettibone.

i feel no shame in using whats available to me. guess what my car plays cds and has a button to roll down the windows, and i love it.

do you feel ashamed creating music using software?

I'm with egg on this one....I can do way more with time code vinyl than I could ever do with real vinyl....

chev come back and talk about real vinyl when you have spent over 60.000 on vinyl in 10 years

I guess I should have added some teefing to the end of that statement ey?

It wasn't a genuine stab at you, just some jovial commentary.

I avoid compressed music like the plague, hence why I buy and will always buy records.

I dont care what people buy, thats their deal, but I can honestly hear the difference, when you consider a full resolution file can be 3000 kb/s+ and and mp3 is 320 kb/s, thats a lot of discarded data, and with the wonder of destructive compression is that most people cant hear so more power to them I guess.

I've been a musician for over 10 years and i have no problem composing music in an acoustic realm, the reason I choose to work in a box is because the things I want to create would be an impossibility with "real" instrumements, so I have no shame in using software.

he he yeah i figured you were only half serial. like you despise the death of vinyl but dont really give a shyte what others do.

i had juat watched an hour of the freestyler soul khan rip some new people an ass, as well as see dumbfounded get robbed in a canadian freestyle battle so came off a little hostile. heh heh.

but yeah not being much of an audiophile and being heaps jn debt and having an unquenchable hunger for new music. cds and online work best for me.
