Monitors, Worth There Different Price Tags?

Browsing monitors lately, wondering how much bullshit or truth are they feeding us...

I mean these are $699 Truths: http://www.storedj.com.au/products/BEH-B1031A

And these are $299 Truths: http://www.storedj.com.au/products/BEH-B2030P

2.5 times the price, are they 2.5 times the speaker?

besides the obvious 2" size different the rest of the specs arent to far off each other....same wattage, Frequency responses arent to far off

opinions? recommendations?

ahh shit your right, i could have sworn i read they were active, i must have been in a different link :( i meen passive wouldnt be much of a problem, already got a big amp, but then everytime i get a mobile gig id have to steal it from my monitors + its way to powerful for them

what a topic killer, new topic then, thoughts on these? http://www.storedj.com.au/products/BEH-B1030A

Not sure on the 103x range but the 203x models have always been well regarded for the price. Seen the 1030a for under 300 a pair.

But if you go a bit higher than the 203X, $7-800 you'll find abstep up in quality. Yamaha hs80, mackies etc

Remember that monitors sit very close to you, an 8 inch model may be too loud in that setting and create bass issues I'm a small, untreated room

Head to a store with a few CDs you know well and demo them all. Djwarehouse has a decent room setup just for this

Yep, 8" is generally to big for most peoples bedrooms. Id recommend hsm50s, extremely flat frequency response, which is ideal once you get used to them.

Behringers are... meh, in my opinion, but you wont really get anything better.

worth a try. make sure if you go into a store you test them, everyone likes and hears something different. also, take tracks you know well so you can hear the differences over different speakers.

15's LOL you'd be sitting with them 1 meter away n going deff...+ i think 15's are mainly for volume and sound spread/project-ability rather then audio quality...

Question

If i needed say a touch more bass from my system because the 5.2's arent delivering enough, how would i go about wiring in my Hifi systems sub?

and would it be worth it?

DJaz is right - I have a pair of Logtiech USB speakers which would be no more than 3" but the bass these things put out is bloody awesome (for their size). My folks have a Logitech 2.1 setup and this setup totally blows me away everytime I hear it. Of course, they have nothing on a proper setup but for the size/money, Logitech make some really good shit.
