SolDios Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I agree with Hobberz, 15" great sound, could use a little more base when on tripods though, nothing a sub can fix Quote
pill Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 New Speakers and light curtain cost a fair bit but active speakers are so much easier to use!Obviously will set them up on stands, and table and the rest of my light kit are missing, but will post a video of entire set up after this weekend. Quote
SolDios Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 WOW! that is awesome! how much did the curtin and the sub set you back if you don't mind me asking Quote
pill Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 sub was 800 i think, around 900 for the curtain (most places are selling them for 2k though). Had to get a stand for the curtain though which was another 140. Quote
SolDios Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 ahh, you know, you can always get a lighting truss to support around it instead of attaching it to the veranda. Im getting a (up too) 4m high, 3m wide one for $120 Quote
eggssell Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 well what have you been selling ipod cases for!!build it for $40 flip it for $500 and your set. sell a couple a month and your laffing. Quote
Jaz Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 wow i wasnt expecting that price for the blanket... Quote
pill Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 It's a little more than an on off blanket. It's a 7 channel DMX do with video patterns etc. Ill take a video on the weekend. And yeah a truss is exactly what I got too, had to pay extra postage to WA though! Quote
pill Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 The curtain itself (set up at home to video all the effects). Set on extra fast so you can see all the effects quickly. Unfortunately my camera seems to have both started lagging towards the end, and can't pick up all the colours properly - the colours are extremely vivid irl!90 minutes of setting up fast forwarded in to 2 minutes, lucky enough to have my sister help me with this one as it was the first time I'd used half of that gear (most of it was new last week!). This was set up for a school disco. You'll also notice that it took me a while to decide where to put the par cans, haha.Gear Includes:4 x 2 Metre LED Vision Curtain2x 4-Eye LED Effects Lights2x RGB Astro Ball Effects Lights2x Par 64 (36x3w LED)Haze MachineLighting Truss, Stands, EtcBehringer DX2000USB Mixer2x Mackie Thump 15" Actives1x Proel Flash Active 15" Subwooferin-action video from the school disco (Audioswapped on youtube to avoid copyright issues - original song was More by Usher)in-action video from the 21st (Audioswapped on youtube to avoid copyright issues - original song was Dirty Talk by Wynter Gordon).Unfortunately that door that is open was the entry to the toilets... couldn't close it so the light made a major dampening on the beams from the lights.Pretty big for a first weekend using $5k of new gear! SourceRaver Posted April 11, 2011 Author Posted April 11, 2011 WOW!My friend works for a professional Dj company and he rocked up to an event with only two effect lights (cause thats all the company gave him).I hope you got paid mor for the extra effort.(I'm liking that curtain)+ve rep for the vids! Quote
andythemusician Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 That is a schweeeet curtain! Where did you get it from? Quote
pill Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 That is a schweeeet curtain! Where did you get it from?Imported them all myself Took a while to find a trustworthy supplier though. So much cheaper than in the stores!Normally I'd only use a smaller number of lights too (2-4), but the school event was a repeat client (of 7 years) and the 21st was for one of my DJs so I brought the extra icing for the cake, haha. Just casually chowed through 2 litres of smoke fluid! Quote
andythemusician Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 2 litres? Shit man.You should look at getting a hazer. I used on just the other week on a show that ran for 3 weeks - it kept the room hazed up perfectly the entire night, and it wouldn't have used 10% of the tank. That would have been 11 nights running, including the first few days when I was setting up and fanging it More expensive than a smoke machine yes, but damn it is so much better and cheaper in the long run! Quote
pill Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Yeah i think mine is a "fazer" which is a smoke machine with a fan stuck to it to make it like a hazer. gets the job done though Quote
legunner Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Boys i'm doing a school dance soon i see there a few school dance setups here, what kinda lights should i be looking at for a dance? Quote
pill Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 With school events, its important that there's enough light, especially if it's little kids.My first set up was 4 250w par 56's on a 4-channel flasher controller that made them flash to the music.Just get a lighting stand and a couple of effects lights - don't go for lasers and strobes, get lights that are brighter that will fill up the room.I've had parents complain about it being "too dark" and turning on lights in the hall, which as you imagine completely ruins the atmosphere, which is why i go for brighter lights rather than lasers, etc.At school events i'd normally take the two lights with all the beams that are in the video, as well as those two astro balls if i'm in a good mood. Quote
pulsebeat Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 thats sick Pillreally liking your complete setup! Quote
legunner Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 nah they like a more nightclubby setup its for high school. last time i had 2 lasers and it looked cool. im getting a fog machine too. Quote
