they are probably over kill to be honest.... do you happen to know what the pitch resolution is on the MK1s? I'm presuming its 0.02

0.02 @ +/-6%, 0.05 at +/- 10

1000's are probably overkill given things like wave display, hot cues and looping are better in the software anyway, and the mk1's are pretty old now

Yeah they may be overkill but they'd make good backup gear incase the DVS or laptop crashes. You'd still have looping, hot cues and a decent sized platter. That's not to say CDJ200 or 400's wouldn't do the job.
