Organising your digital music collection

So just wondering how you guys organise your digital music collection?

One massive folder? By artist? Genre?

My collection is an absolute shambles!!!!

For DJing i have folders by Genre set up on my USB for my CDJ's.... eg, House, Pop/Charts ,Tech

itunes

smart play lists for grouping genres etc.

then make play lists for what ever gig it is that you have on...

i just have a few folders like that go with set times

Opening set tracks

main set tracks

close set tracks

then a few genre's

new breaks,

new dubstep

new disco

new club

i have a folder for each year and within that i have the month of the year and within that folder i have genres.

i recently changed the way i have my music set out and its working a lot better

i prety much have my genre folders split like so

urban

110 down

110 up

trans up

trans down

popular tracks

helps my folders become really specific so i dont loose track of all my tunes

i only genre crate my music right now.

before i dj'd and use to browse RCRD LBL and blogs i did it by dates.

as i said trainspotter is prob what ill get next then i plan on crating by genre, bpms, and my own class (starters; builders; bangers; chillers; steady)

all my music gets stored onto iTunes but my Beatport and Traxsource tunes get put in a folder under their album / ep / release titles. all nice and neat
