eddiebrillo
Okay guys so I have spent weeks squinting at ebay and gumtree and storedj looking and looking, changed my mind to and fro between CDJ and vinyl. I think I might have made up my mind. Im going to buy my gear bit by bit, and I going to start with some techs. Ive found a pair, but it says they dont come with Needles or Carts.Okay I think I get what a needle is okay, its the needle that makes contact with the vinyl. Duh. But whats the cart, and what effect do they both have on the style you spin with?
wazza
the needle fits into the cart, the cart is fit to the headshell, which fits to your tonearm you have to get the right needle & cart & headshellfor the Style you spin & the set-up your haveare you going to do a lot off Scratch..???are you going to be using a DVS [ time code vinly ] ???what style are you playing ????for my turntable set up I use Stanton ScratchmasterMP4 pac..*Image removed by admin because it was fucking huge*
tubby
It's a mix of record holding, record wear, sound quality and price. So as wazza said, scratching, dvs etc affect decision. Stanton 500s were for years the decent cheap choice. Also don't spend a fortune if your sound system is crap.

eddiebrillo
Yeah but where is the sense of community in google search? Okay thanks I am enlightened. Im planning to buy Traktor while its cheap so DVS I guess.
wazza
if your going to go with Traktor scratch DVS you don't need top end needle & cartridge...you just need a needle & cartridge with good out-put & that will not CUE-BURN your vinyl to shit... LabRat
to be totally honest, go concord style needles. the "needle and cart" are in one little section and you basically clip the new one in. so simple. i realize this made little to no sense so ive gotten this pic for ya. basically, that section at the end with the "s" on it is the bit you replacehttp://www.djkit.com/images/products/or ... itrack.jpg
