chrismak Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 I came a post in another forum and they were discussing whether DJ's should include the track list when distributing their mix. Those against posting track lists generally felt that they worked hard digging through crates to find unique tracks that help define their style, and didn't want to give away their "secrets".Those for posting track lists argue that DJ's should help promote their favourite artists's work so they can earn more money and can produce more tracks. It would be interesting to see the opinions of my fellow ADJF users Quote
lloydc Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 i voted no.however, supply if requested.... Quote
chrismak Posted November 9, 2010 Author Posted November 9, 2010 damm. should really have put that option in. Quote
eggssell Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 i think they should. but when i first listen to a mix i prefer not to know so as not spoil it. you know some people see a song they dont like on a list and already go in judgemental. and i guess i prefer to be surprised. also i dont believe in secrecy and elitism. i always find it funny how we hate when everyone starts listening to a good song. AND we hate how people can like crappy songs. so what exactly are the masses meant to listen to????? Quote
Gandy Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 i usually dont but have no issues if im asked for a track list Quote
awesome88 Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 you would think it was weird if you bought a cd that didn't have a track list on the back...therefore i vote yes Quote
Tomy Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 voted no. back in the days of vinyl it was worse than it is now. most likely because 1 track would cost you $20. i dont really think it matters either way anymore. i prefer not to how ever i generally do when asked.my beef with it is that your tunes are what makes a dj's style stand out from everyone else. If your getting successful & gig etc. last thing you would want is 10 other guys in your area copying you and flooding the market. Quote
JonnyB Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 i think they should, but should also not be hassled for leaving a few tracks out...e.g1.barbra steisand2.jack beats3.UNKNOWN4UNKNOWN5.grafton primary6.krafty kuts.7.UNKNOWNLeaving out those real good ones you want to keep to yourself for a few weeks. Tomy Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 yeah thats a good system i know a few guys that do that. Quote
Skank Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 i agree with johnny, hold onto the few bangers you wanna keep in your arsenal for a few weeks, but if asked i think you should let people know, cause its not like you created the track Quote
CBG Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 i said no, simply because i cant be fucked writing it down. i will give track id if they request it Quote
pulsebeat Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 lollazy prickhonestly as eggssell saidsome songs you might thing fuck dont like that song and dont listenbut after a week of people reviewing it i would put the tracklist up Quote
SourceRaver Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Ya, das ist gut!A good compromise.I dont play out much so I'm happy to share my 'finds' with everyone. It would be nice if it were acknowleged in some way. Quote
