SourceRaver Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 So it goes like this…I’m in front of the decks and I want to record a mix but I make a simple mistake so I start again. I keep trying to I get it right but more often than not I get frustrated and then just give up. I hate being a perfectionist.Other time I jump on the decks, drink way too many beers and have a whale of a time experimenting with effects, transitions and other stuff I normally wouldn’t use. Most of it works, some doesn’t but I always walk away a lot happier. Because I’m not recording the mix, I let my hair down and the end result always seems more ‘real’.So I reckon that we should all start posting mixes that reflect what you really like to do on the decks regardless of how technically good (or otherwise) they may be. It’s also a great chance to throw together a mix of your latest and best tunes and share your discoveries with other ADJF members. So it would go something like this:• You would identify the mix as a ‘LowFi’ mix• Negative comments from other members about your actual mixing are to be discouraged as often as not we already know where we’ve gone wrong.• Comments on music selection is to be encouraged. • Including a tracklist of some kind is a must because sharing your knowledge is what ADJF is all about. So what do you all think? Gandy Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 this times a million, i know exactly how ya feel im a perfectionist as well nothing worse when a transition you normally nail without even thinking stuffing up either midway or near the end of the set and have to start again, burns me outfree mixes make me so happy and i always seem to do the wicked mixes when im not recording haha nature of the beast i rkni found 3 JD's is the perfect loosner/warm up for me everything seems to go a lot smoother after a bit of liquid couragewas recording a set for a couple of competitions and was running out of time because of work and kept stuffing up and getting frustratedwhere as if i come home and smash out the tunes no stress makes me the happiest person in the world lol Quote
