Gandy Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Pulse is right, A 17 year old DJ's sometimes in my town at a small nightclub, but he always has supervision and doesnt leave the boothno ones gonna want to hire a baby sitter for there dj Quote

chrismak Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Tydi began mixing at Family when he was 17 back in 2004. Quote
Skank Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 yer legaly you have to be 16 with a guardian but that creats headaches for venue managment so pretty much 18 is the way to go but personally i dont know how your gunna play music to a crowd thats clubbing when you havnt gone out and experienced it yourself Quote
Funky_Steve Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Might also come down to the venue.Could be some club/pub management that turn a blind eye to age so long as they get someone with a bit of talent that brings in the drinkers and makes them money. Dodgey as hell but I'm sure they're out there in this industry of ours. Especially in the farther outreaches in smaller towns where the choice of a DJ may be limited and if you're chummy with the local constabulary who'll turn a blind eye.Would I want to work for them? No way! But if your 17 and keep as hell to get into a venue, there's no thought for logic. Quote
legunner Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I am 17 at the moment and I commonly perform at some of the biggest clubs in my town. Without sounding like a total dick, it is possible to DJ underage at clubs if you have decent ability i suppose. Quote
hoddi Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 this thread is from a while back but i wanna get a club gig before I'm 18, that would be sick! dunno how i dud get one tho :/ but i can always try haha Quote
Mitch Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I can't remember if I was 17 or 18 the first time i played at a venue... If i was 18 it wasn't by much (less than a month) Quote
Jaz Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 u just gotta get to know people who work there hodz, this would be alot harder living in sydney...in my town you just kinda know everyone so i just started talking to the other DJ's, the club promoters etc Quote
GREMM1S Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Booking wise youd probly find alot of promoters wont even check, that said it would be rather embarrassing to rock up to a gig and not get let in lol, i have a mate who played quite a few gigs at local pubs, he would get there early and help them set up and whatnot before bouncers did checks Quote
LabRat Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Get to know people and be very friendly!Sorry it's blunt but this industry is bullshit and not exactly based on talent Quote
legunner Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Everything the lads have said is true basically you have to know people. Quote
Skank Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 my lil cousin is 16 and he is a resident at a under 18s night club in wollongong, i think that sort of thing would be your best bet for getting in underage Quote
hoddi Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 if anybody knows of any events/places like that ^ then I'm happy to hear haha Quote
JonnyB Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 my lil cousin is 16 and he is a resident at a under 18s night club in wollongong, i think that sort of thing would be your best bet for getting in underageget fucked is your little cousin rhys? Quote
JonnyB Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 also it depends on the clubi remember the first time i ever played in a club, the headliner was cancelled a few hours before the event, he was from melbourne, they flew him up, got there and found out he was 17, didnt let him play. Quote
