Tag + Notification

Just gonna throw something out there that works really well on my motorcycle forum

Its simply just tagging a user by typing for instance @Cupe , and they will get a notification saying DJaz has tagged you in a post...

great if you are talking about someone or want them to see your specific post

great idea man. would have to be moderated so people didnt abuse it. like being able to choose if you want notifications and what not.

exactly, well what made me remember/think of it was in my "DJaz Rig Part 2" thread we started talking about dennis, and i said "Im Waiting for CBG to chime in with some dennis hate as they were arch enemies"

and would have liked to be able to tag @CBG so he saw it

and Cupe if your viewing this and like the idea but dont know how to do it, i may be able to find out from my other forums moderator...let me know

its not so much weather he knows how to, more so if this type of forum will allow it...there is plenty of diffrent types of sites and designs of forums and they all differ.

i actually read your post properly

this would be very hard to intergrate if at all possible

and it can be abused easily without a way to moderate it

solution: be active in every thread 24/7

I can see how you think it would be abused, just depends on how the members will use it

A forum with 60,000 members AUS wide and the feature only really gets used from time to time or when you specifically want someone to see your post

oh and i forgot to add, when you have tagged this person like @Cupe, the Cupe part of the name becomes associated with a link to your profile....click it and it will go to here : http://www.ausdjforums.com/modules.php? ... rofile&u=3

I think its a good idea, not hard to moderate, just tell posters how they can use it and how they shouldnt. It would basically be one of the only things on here that has to be constantly moderated.

Everyone just understands how it should work, if a heap of us are in a laptop thread for instance, and the last post was by CBG and i want to reply to him, then i either quote or just post there wouldnt be a need to tag @CBG because its right under his post and he will most likely see it

i think its mainly used when talking about someone not to that person....like as if a beginner asked "Whats some good begginner CDJ's?" i could post "@Hearts has 200's", so that he gets the notification and can help this little noob out

i dont think cupe gives a shyte about moderating he's saying it isnt so simple to setup
