Hey guys.

Seen a lot of artist making remixes these days and have a few questions how it all goes as in releasing the remix, what label does it have to be the same as the original tracks

Would appreciate all impute

Theres two types of remixes, there a full blown remix where you are provided the raw samples, vocals, instruments, midi's or there other type where you do your best to cut bits out of a published track and mash them together.

The latter is harder, but you could take that track and send it to your mates, or a torrent site.

If someone handed me a half decent remix of a track on my label I would hand him the source files and tell him to go nuts. If the outcome was good he would find himself signed.

I have also dealt with my artists having done their own remixes of other tracks by stealing samples etc. We simply contacted the label who released the track, they liked the remix and we had a choice to either let them release it, or pay a royaltee fee and give them a % of sales.
