BeatLeSS Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 I'd go big ups on the DVS, but CDJ's can't be at any disadvantage to learn either dude.I'm with armed, no CD's/Crates are a fkn major advantage, was at a small fest on the wkend and the DJ's had their cd's scattered EVERYWHERE lol. Nothing looks better then repping with a pimp sexy laptop, and product placement whaat get a tekskin with your DJ logo on it! Laughin. Quote

Laughin.a good set of TT's will rape a laptop anyday .although i did walk into a minimal set at stereosonic last year, and the technology these guys use is nuts, they were controlling the video whilst playing music through the lappy and doing all this crazy shit, great entertainment to watch, but id still rather watch a vinyl set from some one like mix master mike Quote
tubby Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 everyone knows where i stand on the software front, and tbh my biggest concern other than autosync is that the software can crash (rare but it can happen) even ableton has crashed on ppl like paul van dyk half way through a set and thats a very pricey piece of software.wasn't there but fat boy slim had his serato screw up at one sydney festival and he could only get one deck working, so was one track, stop, another track, stop. he never figured out about internal modes Quote
Cupe Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 i heard he was playing like that because he was drunk as fuck? Quote

tubby Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 i heard he was playing like that because he was drunk as fuck?he was always smashed when on stage, never stopped him rocking the crowd before Quote

JonnyB Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 hed of had to of been on coke or something as well, he was so fukin charged, swinging his headphones over his head and shit like that,he was focusing on performing for the crowd rather then djing way too much Quote
Cupe Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 anyway im hijacking my own threadback on topic Quote
tubby Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 on the original topic, cdj's take a little getting used to but once you've learnt you will be fine playing tt's at home and cdj's out.a lot of clubs with tt's have them way out to the side past 2cdj's, so it's not great to play on. And if you are still trying to break into the clubs they aren't going to hire in tt's or want to move the setup about to suit you. Quote
eggssell Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 in regards to software, yes it can crash. but as i said, every single place i have been (pub or club) in the last 12 months has at least one dj using a dvs.every single festival video i have seen, the dj's are rocking dvs systems. every tribute, opening or closing all dj's are using dvs.so even if software does crash, it obviously doesnt happen often enuff for people to say i was at such such and his latop messed up. yeah theres a handful of anectodal stories, but i have yet to find a million reviews or you tube videos of peoples software dying.and jonnyb, mix master mike rocks serato. for a while now. JonnyB Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 yeah i know that, i was comparing the SOLE laptop dj to the vinyl dj, he uses serato, but that dosent stop him from amazing scratching and beatjuggling and all that crazy shit. to complete diffrent styles of entertainment, both are great, but i prefer the TT's show. the laptop is there just to provide the audio onto the vinyl yeah? eggssell Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 otay. i gets ya...yeah for sure some one on the 1 & 2's versus a keyboard basher is no comparison.thats why when i saw the z-trip aussie promo, "does what girl talk does but with turntables", i was like damn yeah! Quote
JonnyB Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 z trip is wicked too, first proper TT set i ever saw, at BDO before i even realy knew what djing or dance music was haha Quote
