The more i start pushing my stuff to get live it becomes more apparent that ableton or my computer has a pretty bad lag from midi to DAW via usb.

the lag is half a second and it drives me nuts i'm having to play a lot of things 1/2 a beat early. would be nice to retrain my brain to play on the beat again hahaha.

any help would be great, i've googled a lot and still am but there is no conrete answers apart from "get a new computer" which i'm ready to do, so over this issue.

you gotta get that latency down man. Puts more stain on ur cpu tho. Mines on 10.5ms input and output. 7.5ms is optimal.

Are you sure its from ur usb to the DAW and not from DAW to speakers?

Have you got an interface?

Is your midi clock enabled? (if your device supports it)

Also make sure that...

Yr using low latency audio drivers. Asio are good

And your latency settings are as low.

updated the sound driver for my sound card and believe it or not on my sound card diver there is a drop down box which lets you choose from highest latency to lowest with 5 other options in between. I set it on lowest of course and its seemed to fix my problems.

why on earth it has an option for highest latency i will never know.

played trough a few tracks just now. its still the tiniest bit out but much better than it was. although sound card is making a unnerving crackling sound.

This is what i got form tascam support about the clicking.

Thomas,

Make sure that the driver and firmware are both up-to-date for the US-122L. If so, try removing and re-installing the driver.

DRIVER 64 bit v 2.01

DIVER 32 bit v 2.00

FIRMWARE v 1.12

Also make sure that all updates have been installed for the recording application.

Disable any anti-virus, spyware protection, firewall etc. before downloading and installing the driver/firmware.

Eliminate any unnecessary devices from the USB ports.

If issues persists, there may be a component on this particular PC that is conflicting with the unit or driver (USB or video card, application or software installed on the computer etc.).

If available, test the unit on another computer to determine if the unit is faulty.

i've already tried all of this. contacting supprort was my last chance to figur it out.

upgrading on the weekend to Mac perhaps but defs. upgrading to Focusrite Saffire PRO 24 DSP.
