hyperzap Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 He ya.Im not 18 yet so I have never been to a club or one of those 18+ events.Lets say you get a set at club x for an hour. Does the club have decks that you use or do you bring your own. If option 2, how does each Dj plug in seemlessly?Im trying to get myself a set at an -18 event in a few months time. Any ideas where to start?Thx. Quote
Jaz Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 hey man18+ life is good and badClub will always have there own gear, only place that wouldnt would be a Pub or something that isnt specifically a Nightclub...and most clubs are using CDJ's you just take your CD wallet full of your favourite tunes to mix, or music that the club wantsAll the new CDJ's coming out have USB inputs so you can either take your Laptop (not recommended) or USB sticks with your tunes on them, very easy, i do both....just not in a club ....yet and as for getting the Gig you just gotta be confident, good at what you do, and make sure you talk to the Promoter/organizer, be polite and not scared, you dont wanna walk up stuttering n shitting your pants....and make a demo before hand so they can see what you can do if they askhope this has helped Quote

You wouldn't happen to know any of these 'organisers' that do U18 events? Quote
Jaz Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Not sure of any, or if any exist for that matter....best thing to do would be to Google your area and then keywords like underage, dance, party etc...see what comes upfailing that, when you see posters or Facebook pages or advertisements on these events they should always have a contact number or if there is a company promoting the event they will probly be in the fine print and the bottom or something...the others should kick in with some other tips later tonight but The Footy is Starting now so yeh.... hyperzap Posted October 3, 2010 Author Posted October 3, 2010 K thanks.I'll make a demo mix and post it sometime in the near future. Hopefully someone will know someone, but failing that I would email the event as you said. Thanks for your help. Hypoz/Dj NeTTo^^ Quote

Jaz Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Oh yeh that's fine, I ment taking your laptop just for ur music library would be a bit of a hassle Quote
CBG Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 y and how would bring u lappy just for ur library? Quote
Skank Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 just ask the promoter at the club that books you what gear they have almost all clubs are rockin the 2000 and 800 combo now at a minimum have your cds i suggest being competent on cdjs before approaching a gig cause if you blow it youll find it hard to get more gigs Quote
CBG Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 To be perfectly honest. You will not make it as a DJ, a commerical one anways, if you dont know how to use CDJ's. For me, not to know how to spin with the CDJ's would just make me embarresed. No DJ would respect me.You could go the otherway and become a MIDI maestro like Deadmau5 and Richie Hawtin (however he is an exturntabilist) and become the king of the underground, work ur way up there. But then of course u prbly need to produce. So yeah... you must know CDJs to make it. People can try and argue that, but I honestly dont think you could. In Europe... its different Quote
Jaz Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 You could go the otherway and become a MIDI maestro like Deadmau5Just dont become some Cocky fuck like Deadmau5 when you to hit it big other then that i agree with what CBG said, but its gonna cause some Vinyl warriors to chime in with the opinions haha Quote
CBG Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 deadmau5 IS cocky, but he has gd reason to be lol. I'm convinced he has autism... which is why he's such an amazing producer Quote
Jaz Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 oh yeh it may not be needed but he deffo has a right to think he is better then most, amazing producer, Strobe still fucks with my mind Quote
wazza Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Oh yeh that's fine, I ment taking your laptop just for ur music library would be a bit of a hassleI wouldn't say that...if your using Rekordbox on your laptop to store your music library...you take your laptop to the club and use a I-LINK cable to plug your laptop to the new cdj 900 & 2000...no need to set up sound drivers just plug & playrekordbox is a cool software...you can pre-do all your loops & hot cue's for all your music at home before you go to the club....AND ITS FREEhttp://www.prodjnet.com/rekordbox/support/download.php Quote
