simulation Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 i have 2cdj400s they have been great to learn on BUT im really thinking about buying stanton ST150s and serato. its such a hard choice to go between cd players and vinal. i understand ppl think that vinal are dead and electronic players are the future but i dont believe that at all, what do you all think? good choice? Jaz Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Depends if you have the money, if you do, do what you love man, shouldnt matter what anyone else thinks Quote
Buck_Choi Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 have them both.. mix with 4 channels then you are one legend! its always good to know both.. if you do clubs they usually have the cdj's but the odd case they have TT's you can do it Quote
simulation Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 yeah i was thinking of just saving up and having both... but can ya do everything on tts that ya can do on cdjs say if i was to buy better cdjs instead? Quote
Buck_Choi Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 me personally would rather both =D i hear its completely different using TT's need to learn your beat matching perfect.. can scratch and all that jazz. and it also looks cooler =) Quote
krsjuan Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 depends on what genre of music youre into.if you are wanting to scratch etc you should go with ttsyou could do what alot of djs do and go with a pair of cdjs and a single turntable. best of both worlds. but in saying this you need to think about the cost of serato or traktor on top of that just for one table.dilemmas bruhh Quote
djarmed Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 cdj's mate. go forwards not backwards soon tt's will be gone from clubs and it will just be cdj's or software.............i GUARANTEE it.get some cdj900's if you can afford them. Quote

eggssell Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 cdj's mate. go forwards not backwards soon tt's will be gone from clubs and it will just be cdj's or software.............i GUARANTEE it.get some cdj900's if you can afford them.woo werent you one of the strongest components against controllerism? but now your championing looking forward not backwards?to the OP, yes genre may matter. and its not necessarily just for scratching, but at a lot of RnB nights at clubs there are no cdj's. i am assuming a lot of the more popular venues like say tank, they just pack them away but mos def when the RnB promoters come in they dont have them out.i think with the mass growth of dvs, turntables will not die anytime soon. FancyPants Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 I got cdj 900s and str8 150s, I dont use the cdjs half as much as the tt's. and I dont even have dvs! there nothing more satisfying than getting it right on vinyl. that said, it is much easier to crank out loops n stuff on cds, especially if u get a player with hot cues and loops.personal preference Quote
krsjuan Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 there nothing more satisfying than getting it right on vinyl. ie. vinyl gets bitches Quote

pulsebeat Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 But shribbled up berries have lost their juice long ago....LOL definately well playedif it was mejust my personal preferancecdjs and then buy seratoyou can use the usb function in the back of the cdjsand then its so much control over the decksbut in saying thatits all down to personal preferancethe last time i used vynals was when i first started outhad a pairit was belt driveand it laged to the shit houseweigh it all up dude Quote
djarmed Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 ooooo haven't i caused quite a stir.ok.1. eggsell...strongest component against controllerism? im merely saying whats going to happen and never said i agree with it. i dont like software and prob never will but that doesn't mean that in the end it wont take over.2. TT's are dying wether people like it or not...it is fact. More people buy cd decks or software these days over tt's, it is practical and media is much more cost effective (im not saying dont buy them, i loved my tt's when i had them......really loved them) if you buy them its up to you. Compare it to VHS and DVD if you will. Mind you it will still be quite some time till tt's are gone for good.3. MrChris......TBH i must have thought the OP said something about clubs, and i agree with your statement that what clubs have shouldn't dictate what you buy, it is a personal preference. DVS is great BUT it's still not true vinyl its an emulation. Its just time coded vinyls manipulating SOFTWARE. A day will come when tt's will die for good, a day will come when cd decks die for good,a day will come when software will die for good (who knows what were going to be using by then, maybe just our thoughts haha). Its inevitable. Its all to do with the consumer and the evolutionof technology.A time will come when this same discusiion or stir will be over cd decks.Software sales are going through the roof, most young people starting these days think that dj'ingis traktor or ableton. Their are a select few out of this bunch of young people that willbother to learn the "original" way to dj. But unfortuanately its still not enough.im not having a dig at anyone, please dont think that i am. Quote
eggssell Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 its all good armed no one thinks your having a digg, its just all convo right. when you say "original" way to dj isnt that turntables? pre serato and pre traktor scratch i would of said tt's would die. but seeing as shyte loads of pros have gone dvs, and that cd's are still not accepted in certain club scenes they wont be dying anytime soon. yeah fer sure one day turntables will be dead but i reckon for at least the next 10 yrs they gonna be around. Quote
krsjuan Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 chalk and cheese.i honestly dont think tts are going to "die" just because digital formats are getting better. i think youve forgotten that tts have also gotten better. if vinyl was going to die due to cdjs it would have happened a while agoi know I wont lose interest in tts because cdjs get better Quote
