eggssell Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 bit of both man. and its the same for everything.you have to remember aussies are some of the highest paid people in the world and we have some of the highest insurance in the world.so a simple thing like shipping, storage and distribution costs heaps!!then you need to add the retailers costs and profit margin.the only way aussie companies can sell for "cheap" (which equals equivalent to overseas) is to negotiate good wholesale deals with exporters overseas and buy very large bulk amounts OR negotiate good wholesale deals with importers here who have bought bulk from overseas. Jaz Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 its just how it works man, with everything, if its not made here or china then your gonna pay threw the ass for it, because the government wacks a hefty import tax on it, then you have the Australia suppliers making a profit, then you have your DJ stores making a profit, it sucksthese days no matter what you pay for something, Divide the cost buy about 10 at least and thats how much it cost to make....i work for a major Flat pack Furniture Store, you know, bits of wood in a box with an allen key and screws, half hour later you have a bookcase, we sell bookcases that cost $5 to make, we buy them for $10, then sell them for $70best thing you can do is contact Vestax themselfs and see what they can do for you, it may be a hassle but who knows, maybe getting 1 or 2 over just for you is easier then 10,000 for big Suppliers, n shit if u can get them cheap, get more then u need and make a small profit yourself on them bitches Quote
eggssell Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 hmmm i think ppl have to get over the made in china thang. everything is made in china, korea, thailand and on a smaller basis singapore. i can guarantee you your pioneers are not made in europe djaz. its just a matter of whether they are mass manufactured in a non controlled factory. or mass manufactured by factory sanctioned by a bigger multinational who enforce some quality. also unfortunately the norm is the manufacturer wont deal direct as it is too much admin. ive looked into importing heaps of shyte for retail. and its either some wont deal with those that dont have a physical shop (ie eretailer only) or they charge you rrp unless you order a sizeable amount. and rrp is usually more than what youll pay in the store Quote
CBG Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 You cant get an XD for under $3000 here in aus, unless its on ebay or on sale.In the us you can get them for $1500 Quote
wazza Posted September 29, 2010 Author Posted September 29, 2010 thats my problem DJ az my friend ...I'm off to the US at the end off the year...with a lot off $$$ to play withI do want to buy here in OZ to help a d.j store in these hard times...SO do I pay here in OZ knowing I'm getting fucked over on priceor do i buy in the us and save some $$$why should I buy one here when I can get two over there for the same priceif someone in one off the d.j shop or one off you can give me a good reason why I should buy here in OZ it might change mind..but if not I will get them over there Quote
Jaz Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 you basically gotta decide between a few pro's n cons1.how much is 1 set of decks gonna matter to a DJ store, and is that worth you loosing Double your money2.Is US worth the risk of having no warranty, it wont be Void but good luck getting it back there and fixed if something goes wrong ...3. how much is the Tax n shit going to be when you bring it back...if its none or minor then it may be worth it, as its a very significant Discount from US (half) Quote
CBG Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 i wouldnt feel too guilty about the aus thing. Retail is daylight robbery, just scumbags buying lots of shit for cheap, then selling it dearer to us... doesnt take a great deal of skill to do it either. Quote
crundyy Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 just goto their warehouse and 5 finger discount all their shiznat. Quote
Jaz Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 then he'll go to Jail and get 5 finger fistedhow ironic.... Quote
Gandy Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 underdeveloped deformed club handtook the words right out of my mouth Quote
tubby Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 make sure the us decks can handle the different power here. An adaptor is easy enough to carry around but a step down transformer is a pain. we do get ripped off in many areas. I checked out the top end sony headphones when my wife got offered staff prices on them. Even at the discounted rate it was twice what I could get it delivered from US for. my home speakers retail for US$1295, here 2999. and then you come to cars....yes we'll make the road safer by taxing new, more efficient, more safe cars so they cost double the rest of the world. You cannot simply blame the distance (we're no further from asia where most things are made), a lot is protectionist government policy, and a lot has to do with lazy consumers. Start buying from o/s and watch as our retailers evolve to compete Quote
eggssell Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 im sure the taxes add a fair bit too it. but as i said you also have to add the salaries. i am pretty sure our wharfies get paid more than probably anywhere in the world except maybe some of those rich scandanavian countries.same with our couriers. i had friends in the US working for fast food joints and they were shocked at the difference between our minimum wage and the buckleys they were getting paid.and thats just salaries, add kick backs to unions, insurance, local govt licenses etc. etc. which is why local staff rates, or local cost prices for a retail store is still more than what you get overseas. eggssell Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 oh yeah and i came across it last night. Pioneer DJ stuff is made in Malaysia. Quote
