Funky_Steve Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 A console stand is easy enough to make. You just need some plywood and a few piano hinges. Make it about 900mm to 1m high (depending on your own height) and about the same wide. Folds down flat and is easy to carry. Paint it black or for a more professional look, cover it in grey felt-like carpet (used to be available from Clark Rubber or Jaycar I think). Then you can either rest your coffin on top or use another sheet of plywood for a table top.The good thing about this sort of console stand is that you can hide all your stuff behind it - kit box, amp, power boards, etc. Quote
Funky_Steve Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 On the question of standing or sitting, I used to stand for the duration of all my gigs (sometimes up to 6-8 hours). To me it looked more professional and you were more mobile to sort through your CDs on the table next to you.But after the years catch up on you and your back starts to ache 3 or 4 hours into a gig I now try to find a stool to sit on as a back up. That way you're still at a similar height as standing but you can rest your back and legs if they get tired. I try to avoid sitting in a chair if I can help it (and my console is too high for that position anyway). Quote
tubby Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Bricks or cinder blocks are a nice and cheap way to add height to a setup Quote

tubby Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Put em in a record box. About the same weight as a case full of vinyl. Quote
