Mattye Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Just wondering, what does everyone recomend. Do u play many songs with "Lyrics" in them??Do u perposely split them up ie. not play them one after the other???Do u only play one every so often?? Quote
lloydc Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 depends on where you're playing reallyyou won't get far without lyrics at a house parties/pubs/commercial type clubspersonally i'd try and split them up. Quote
Jaz Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 I do it the other way around for party's, play song without lyrics only every so often, pop loving Teens need lyrics Quote
Tomy Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 i stear clear off it. but i find you do need it to break things up every now and then and girls do like a sign a long. Quote
eggssell Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 i dont mind a lyric (be it vocal house or some dude rapping or a looped hook) but find it hard to mix unless you know every start and stop of the lyric. so if i do have one with lyrics i usually mix into one without, or into instrumental of same song if i have it so i can extend the transition. Gandy Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 i find it a lot easier to split them up, i find if i dont throw in lyrical tracks the floor gets bored because they dont know whats going on/dont know the track Quote
eggssell Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 is that really a bother these days? i didnt know at least half the stuff kate monroe or shamus was pumping out but as long as i could get my dance on i didnt really give a shyte Quote
Mattye Posted September 24, 2010 Author Posted September 24, 2010 @ eggssell - yeh thats what ive been doingi'v found it gets a bit crowded so to speak when u play a few tracks with lyrics in a row.Edit: I'm considering somehow tagging the songs with lyrics. Can u do this in Traktor?? Or would i have to edit the song title?? Quote
eggssell Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 in comments, and what i would do is put markers where lyrics start, and maybe a marker where there is a good instrumental bit. kind of like putting stickers on your records back in the day.ive never actually been assed though Quote
Skank Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 man depends what sorta club your playing and the time slot but you could get a sick tech house song throw some top 40 accapella over the top of it and boomb you can play it in a commercial timeslot Quote

Jaz Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 get a tissue before you touch your gear Beatless Quote
LabRat Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 i tend to play most tunes these days with some form of lyrics in them Quote
BeatLeSS Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 I find lyrics give something for the masses to focus on and relate with together. Even if you don't know them in the middle of a club noone is going to hear you shout them anyway, so mumble away!Gotta be right into your music (Like most of us are haha) to really enjoy the changes/phrasing of pure music - for average punters it's subconscious so they don't realise it's happening.
