Hey guys I am looking at purchasing a dj set for a beginner. I don't really want to buy some piece of shit because that will ruin the whole experience of it, even if I do not enjoy it as much as i think i will.

My budget is 2000

I was looking at a group package on pssl http://www.pssl.com/Mixdeck-EON-DJ-System- but thought i didnt like the woofers n such.

I decided I may buy the cd player/decks seperate for 700 and buy these speakers instead:http://www.djcity.com.au/products/pl215-qtx-dual-15-inch-led-dj-party-speakers-1000-watt-178-515_1333.html

Truthfully I have no idea what im doing so all advice would be appreciated. I would like to know as much info as possible.

I have my heart set on cd because i would play trance/progressive/ bit of hardstyle. All advice welcome thanks.

For 2000 you'll be cutting it close for getting good CD players+Awsome speakers (big Brands like JBL), but good Decks+ Ok speakers however is reachable

Wazza said 200-300 for postage from america for all that, i recon it would be close to double that so yeh give USA a miss mate, plus your warranty it pretty much useless if its overseas

those are a decent price on the JBL's there, but i personally would pic Good Decks over good speakers anyday, plus you'll want 2 speakers so that will be $840 then you will need a decent amp to get some big sound out of them, lets say $200 minimum for an ok amp so that over 1k allready

i suggest you message Bastian or Pulsebeat as they both had CDJ200's for sale at a good price and they will be great for 1st decks for you, and they are good for low end CD players

So in my advise id say think about decks before speakers, i meen if you've got awsome speakers and a CD walkman then your up shit creak arent you :P

hope this helped :)

Hey mate can u tell me the technical specifics for what an amp does and like what its used for? Yeah i saw the cd dj 2000's for like 2k themselves. Its interesting was also talking to a mate about the pl215 QTX 15 inchers and he said there great but idk.

Well an Amp Basiclly just amplifies the signal to enough volume and power (watts) so the speaker can produce the sound

If you get Passive Speakers (no amp included) then you need to buy an amp or they are basicly just a giant paperweight

if you get powered speakers (Built in Amp) you dont need an amp as they already have 1

there a pro's and cons to both

Passive it less expensive if you allready have the amp, and if a speakers breaks all u do it loose the speakers were as with powered if it breaks u loose the amp and speaker

Powered cost alot more but are easier and make more sense sometimes, but your JBL and brand names speakers will come with a good amp attatched, but as for Cheap speakers sometimes u get a dodgey amp

i went with passive because i bought a Great amp for shit speakers because when i choose to upgrade i will not need another amp, so it will end up better in the long run

ok check these out (what im about to link you) A few other members and I have these speakers and have all been happy with them, they are powered (dont need an amp) and cheap but have decent sound for there price, unfortunately the guy doesnt have them for sale at the moment but you may be able to find the same or similar speaker....As for the price, good luck fining anything as cheap really....

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0651029485

but what i recomend you do it get your decks 1st, for 1 there is no point having speakers with nothing to play threw them

and 2 as i said, Good decks before good speakers

for a couple of months i was just running some good Panasonic Hifi speakers and they are good to practice with but you couldnt do a party or anything with them so thats why i got speakers....

And haha nah i wouldnt Recomend 2000's for a begginer, that is unless you have some rich friends/parents/girlfriend buying them for you :P

^ thats who's decks i was telling you about dude :)

another member is considering buying them (cheap) but as said if he bails you should jump on them

2xPioneer CDJ200's just in case u were wondering :)

and yeh my 3 PA Speakers are as cheap as i could find, but my Subs are kinda Mid Range....and yeh they are no JBL's but they are doing there job....:)

if you can get your hands on a laptop then this would be the best option.

stanton 2.1 pack + serato bundle

$1390

http://www.djwarehouse.com.au/djgear/dj ... -pack.html

2x stanton t.62 turntables (with carts)

(good for trance and hardstyle then you can also play vinyl as well as digital)

basic 2 chan mixer (m212)

stanton headphones

+ serato

if you didn't know before serato lets you stream mp3's/music from your laptop via serato onto your turntables, ie: select song on computer, and bam its playing on vinyl turntables, amazing hey?

also for speakers get some cheap studio monitors,

good for bedroom use and practice.

ie: Behringer B1031A TRUTH Studio Monitors

$350

http://www.djwarehouse.com.au/studio-ge ... itors.html

some other things to think about buying

some better slipmats, will help you with having low torque turntables. tablescloths- $40

http://www.djwarehouse.com.au/djgear/ac ... pmats.html

and maybe a laptop stand

stanton uberstand $125

http://www.djwarehouse.com.au/djgear/di ... stand.html

a dj bag/ to carry headphones, records, laptop/ stand, cables brick of heroine, whatever.

i got one of these, its absolutely fantastic for the price, if you don't mind silver.

http://www.djwarehouse.com.au/djgear/ba ... j-bag.html

or look at udg, as they make excellent bags

eg:

http://www.djwarehouse.com.au/djgear/ba ... black.html

and maybe a headphone upgrade

allen&heath xd53, is highly rated by most users on this forum $290

http://www.djwarehouse.com.au/djgear/he ... hones.html

all comes in under budget, and will be excellent to get you on your way, just watch a bunch of serato tutorials, availible on www.serato.com or on youtube if you search for them.

also download serato from their website for free, (you wont be able to mix with it until you buy the unit itself but you can start organising your music in there now)

What does everyone think of this:

http://www.djcity.com.au/products/pk-dj ... e_254.html

and

Speakers:

http://www.djcity.com.au/products/pk-sp ... _1648.html

Orr Package 2:

I found cdj200's for 560 each on ebay,

I would get a pioneer mixer for around 500 and then the same speakers?

I am interested in what everyone thinks of the pk dj 4's.?? Thanks

djaz doesnt rate dj city very well.

dont know much about citronic, but i know these go well and reloop is a pretty good brand (i have a mixer, and i have played with the RMP1's). cheap as chups. and when my bro bought them last week they had no RMX20's so he got the RMX30's for same price. and despite the pictue of the RMP1's, you get the RMP1 Scratch (which is the latest model) not the RMP1 B's (which are pictured).

http://www.djwarehouse.com.au/djgear/dj ... ack-2.html

then just get the road case seperate, and its about the same price.
