FabDJ Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 1000 members say 100- 500 buy t shirts and other memborellia you have placed a minimum order for stock and will recoup your investment and make a small profit. It may be a one off, but you have commenced promoting the site. at no cost to you. eggssell Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 neither the shirts or the event would particularly be profitable rather to get adjf public.in regards to shirts, if someone can come up with a concept, a design and a manufacturer in order to get a quote. im sure the willing people would pay up front before we get it done. i.e. no need for any cash up front.in regards to events, as i said good idea if you can get people with time to dedicate!! and thats the catch, most of us working as it is, and some of y'all also have gigging so while a good idea not entirely feasible.but yeah a lot of places will allow for free use of venue, then its just a matter of dedicating time and booking djs. and while a lot of people here will be dying to get a gig on, i think to garner people to come it will need known djs. so tomy up in qld, chris down in melb, mitchnmatch, jonny and skank here in syd. and as the point is to advertise adjf to DJ's not clubbers it will need some sort of pull like a comp or open decks. of course unlike the shirts, organising or even at the least sponsoring the event will cost money. lloydc Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 ^ exactly... was refering to making money to support the website, not really attracting more members.ie. the money gained from a few events will pay for hosting, and then what ever other promotional avenues you decide on to attract more members to this site.put an at on ITM... LOL Quote
FabDJ Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 If you promote the site and get more DJ members you will attract more advertisers and can charge more for your add space.I counted I think 61 DJ's advertising in the yellow pages for the Gold Coast region alone, so there must be a lot out there.Did a ABS on future demographics of clubbers and there should be work for us for at least 20 years before the clubbers numbers start to shrink from the result of an ageing population(The population bubble) Quote
eggssell Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 hey cupes. theres a few tshirt places (found one that does custom hoodies, custom aprons, custom panties) and they do shirts for about $30, and zippered hoodies from $70. if you buy 3-9 theres 10% discount, then above 10 about 15%. if we pay the full price you can keep the discount. so sell 10 tees and you'll make $45.ill check with my lil bro if he knows of any better places (he works in design and has considered the tshirt biz). Funky_Steve Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Advertising and affiliate links is where you can possibly generate revenue. But to get the greatest benefit you need to increase traffic to the site. On a quick google search, ausdjforums came up first for "dj forums australia", further down the list for "australian djs" and nowhere for "disc jockeys australia". The aim should be to think of all the possible search options someone might use to find us and then get to the top of the results page. Google looks at a range of criteria to do this, including metatabs, text content, videos, backlinks, advertising, etc. There are ways of using all of the above effectively to increase traffic as well as generate some much needed revenue. I'm no expert on this but I have just attended some seminars on how to create profitable websites, so as I find out more I'm happy to impart the knowledge. Quote

Skank Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 id just go to a printing place and either tell them what material you want it printed on or get to supply it Quote
eggssell Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 personally ive been rethinking the grafitti thing. i mean i loves the header but in reality the elements of hip hop are hardly a topic here. in fact some people even hate on it so just saying. maybe its time for something new. and yeah im picturing some logo on front and website either across shoulder blades or in lower back. if hoodie then adjf in bubble letters on one side of hoodie then everything else the same Quote
FabDJ Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Writing down low for the wet T-shirt competitionsDon't want writing in the way. Quote
